S-6000 only gives credits if I raise and lower the door latch
« on: November 09, 2020, 12:22:12 AM »
I have a coinless S-6000.  Just started doing this....If I feed a bill into the bill acceptor it takes in in then freezes.  If I raise and lower the door latch then the credits are applied.  Could this be a loose wire or misadjusted switch?  Or what?  Where should I be looking?

Could be a wire near the door mounted  optic .  Open the door and then move the latch and see if it comes in contact with any wires. The optics are not mounted to the door latch so not sure why when you lift the latch that would change anything. Try this with door open,   shine a flash light onto the cabinet optic and this replicate door being closed. Insert a bill and see if it works properly.

I didn't see any wires loose or touching.  But the bill acceptor works when I shined a light in the optic.  So I looked at the alignment of the door to the body and the door hangs a little (1/16") low.  Perhaps the optics need better alignment?  Should I need to adjust the door?  If so, how is that typically done?  Thanks.

Dont think there is any adjust. Tighten all the nuts on the hinges.  There is an alignment plate on the door. Press it downward and tighten those nuts well.  make sure the optics are clean

Now the bill acceptor isn't working at all.  When I turn on the machine it cycles.  After the cycling the green LED flashes.  When I close the door the machine is showing 1 credit but I can't play it.  Machine is frozen.  And the little green lights on the bill acceptor bezel are not lit, so the acceptor is not ready to accept anything.  This is a bill only machine.  Has MEI bill acceptor.  I wonder because I pressed the print voucher the machine is waiting for a voucher to print, which it doesn't.
