Bell Not working
« on: April 08, 2016, 09:22:05 AM »
Hi gang.
IGT Deluxe s2000 -I installed a bell (24VDC Pulsed).  I set the option 3.2.4 to "Ring for all wins".  I hit a win and no bell rang.  The bell works ( I put 24VDC to terminals and it rings).  I checked the wiring and the schematic diagram shows I have the correct plug and connector combo as the wire colors and gauge are correct,

OK guys, what am I overlooking ???  Are there more option items I need to work with ??  Could I have a bad door I/O board ??
Please advise.  Thank you in advance.

Oh, by the way, the handle solenoid  works and that is where the +25VDC comes from.

Found this on our archive site:

On the wire harness along side the MPU and close to the backplane board you should see a connector not hooked up, two orange wires twisted together and a yellow w/black stripe , this is where the bell hooks up. The yellow/black is the ground.

I'll check on my own s2000 when I get home, but try this and report back!

Thanks STS.  I have the correct connector and the connection is solid.

I ran the 4.2.2 output test and I CAN ring the bell from the test option.  Bell works and I/O board must be OK.  I must be doing something wrong somewhere ???

Ok the next question is... was/is the machine paying off properly when it hits a win? I'm sure it is but I have to ask!

On the S+ the bell setting is pays on all pays, or pays only in top award/hand pays.  Since I've never hooked up a bell on an S2000, I've never looked into a similar setting.  If the bell works in the I/O, then my best guess is that the bell is set to ring only in top award pay.

Hi Rick.
I set the bell option to "ring on ALL pays" and have verified that the setting is locked into the system.  My guess is that there is something else I need to set, but I'm not sure what.

Doc, on my S+ which is set to all pays, it only rings when you cash out and it physically pays out the credits. I can win and add credits all night and it won't ring until I cash out. Just a thought.

Okay a post script on that. My S+ does not have a ticket printer. It's a quarter machine or bill machine. I have the hopper set to zero, which makes all pays a hand pay. It rings when I push the button and when I turn the key it rings until the credits finish paying out. Now with your machine I'm not sure what that will do but I think a pay out should be a pay out even to a ticket. I'll cross my fingers.

Shag - Is it possible that because i have a cashless game that he bell doesn't ring as no coins are dispensed ?  If I CASH-OUT, I don't hear the bell either.
The only time I have heard the bell is when I did the door output test and I was able to ring the bell during the test.

Still stumped ???????   How about some of you BIG GUNS out there helping me out.  Thanks to all.

Yeah I'm wondering the same thing. The straight to ticket may stop the bells  payout process. We'll see if anyone else has any ideas.

Something doesn't seem right.
I will start by saying non of my machines are coinless, they all have TITO, printers, bills, and coins.
I set the machine to Bell on all pays.
On a winning hit as the credits are rolling up on the machine I get a very weak bell. My experiance with most of the bells on S2000s is they are weak, they kind of ring but they fade in and out even on jackpot hits.
For what it's worth.

Rich -  I'm going to connect an LED to the bell wiring and see if I get the bell but it is so weak that I can't hear it.  Thanks for the tip.

Yes, the bells do not work very well on the S2000, even when they do work  :Tongue_Out:
I know Yoeddy (Jason) had a thread on installing bells in his machine. I thought he might have had a video of it working :Scratch-Head:

WOW!!!
That bell is ringing (if you can call it that) .  I cam nearly hear it.  I'm half deaf anyhow and the system sound over powers the bell.
Well so much for that idea.  Really sucks.  Chock this up to SCREWED.

Thanks for all the help from the group.  I really appreciate it.

Thanks CV. But I'm not done just yet.  I think I may have solution to making the bell louder.  I'm working on it and I will let you know what (if anything) I find out.
