Jurisdiction and TITO/Data format on Aristocrat.
« on: December 21, 2019, 02:12:27 PM »
I saw a couple of messages about ASP format on Aristocrat, and one of them said "ASP (Aristocrat Serial Protocol) is used in NZ and AUS." It got me thinking, My two machines are from Canadian casinos, would they also use ASP, or maybe SAS?

Is there a way to tell what's used on a game by hooking up a computer in terminal mode to the data out on an Aristocrat MK6?

It's possible that the MK6 casino software uses ASP worldwide, especially if the Canadian games don't show up as regular USA platform or "local" software (do the chips themselves have ASP or anything similar written on the labels?)

The MK5 casino software was interchangeable but used a different base depending on the region, it could be a similar thing with MK6 casino.

There is a few casinos in Aus that use ASP, the ones I work with all use a mixture of protocols, SAS, X-Series, QCOM etc. In the pub/club world, its all moving to QCOM, but there is still X-Series (NSW) and and VLC (Victoria).

SAS is by far the most popular protocol in my experience, and casinos that dont support it are very much crippled in getting new games onto the floor. AS I said elsewhere, surfing the audit menus usually gives up enough protocol specific info to figure out what is being used. Best part to look for would be bonus and funds transfer, as the SAS stuff is pretty specific.

The protocol(s) used will often be specific to the casino and what host system they use, so trying to figure out what your machine has based on where you think it came from is probably not going to help. Sometimes a regulator will specify what they want, and you can usually find that info from surfing the web.

Hit the audit menus, and post up pics on config.

If you go into the audio menu and look at machine options, there is a section somewhere on protocol. Check that out and let me know.

I just looked at the mk6 I set up with US game, and it says Gamma (which is now GSA). Given GSA look after SAS and G2S I am guessing it could be either protocol. Looking around the web for info suggests that the SPC converts Gamma to SAS, so I am a little confused to say the least. The game I have also has SCP configuration in the audit menu, and that looks like SAS to me.

If I could get this game of mine going, I could probe the comm port(s) and see if it responds. You have piqued my interest now, I want to know more about this protocol.

So the game I have here with US roms is definitely Gamma/GamPro protocol. I cant say I have ever heard of it before, but reading between the lines on google it looks like it was a predecessor to G2S.

This may be different to a Canada game base though, although I did see some canada options in the setup.

Thanks for the info bogen, I'll post some audit menu pics once I get an audit key (or replace it with switch I have a key for )

Btw, anyone have an extra Aristocrat audit key or two they'd like to part with reasonably?  :cool_thumb_up:

You need a 5101 key for that.
You can find them here and on eBay.
