Bally Alpha M9000 Primary Touch Screen Error

I need help repairing a Bally Alpha M9000.  After the machine boots up, I get a message in the display that says "Call Attendant Primary Touch Screen Device Error".  Has anyone seen this before and found a fix?  The display is a Ceronix 1905-LCD.  Machine had been working fine previously.

Check both ends of touchscreen cable to make sure they are screwed in tight in back of the monitor and the MPU.

I checked the connecting cable and screws were tight.  I even swapped it with a cable from another working machine and the error remained.

The touchscreen controller inside back panel of monitor may have gone out.

The serial port on the mpu can also flake out.  Try swapping the mpu to see if the problem persists.  If it does, then it's the touchscreen controller inside the LCD assembly as previously stated.

Thank you for the good advice.  I took the MPU out of the "bad" machine and put it in another working machine.  Error message did not move with the MPU from the "bad" machine.  So now it looks like the display is the problem.  Can the rear controller be replaced or does the entire LCD display need to be changed?

Remove the back cover and take a pic, you should be able to just replace the controller board, someone here might have one.

Wow that is actually a very reasonable for it.  I usually find them on e-bay for around $30 used, but $41 new looks like a bargain to me, provided they have no minimum order issues.

I would call and talk to Lisa about that shipping price.  Did it default to overnite or something? UPDATE: I put one in cart, it says 17.50 their shipping is high though.  I sure hope that fixes your machine!

Part from Ceronix arrived today.  I installed and was pleased to see that the "Primary Touchscreen Error" message was gone.  Unfortunately the touchscreen does not respond to any finger pressing.  I did a RAM clear thinking maybe this would help, but got the same result.  Checked the connectors at the new board and cables to MPU; all seem ok.


Any thoughts on how to proceed?

Did you reconnect the flat 5 pin molex touchscreen cable to the controller?  Did you calibrate the touchscreen?

I connected all 3 plugs, including the flat cable connector.

I was ready to load it up with some credits and start playing, but now I'm getting a bill validator com error.

Sorry, my mistake.  I had the wrong bill validator selected in my setup.  Machine is working great now; wife is pushing the spin button like mad!
