If your buttons dont work while in the programming menu you have an issue with your senet devices. First thing I would check is the door wireing. All the senet devices all chain together i have seen them wired in a couple different orders the most common being door harness to bet per line display line display to vertical io card vertical io card to 45 degree io card 45 degree io card to credit display.

There is a venders list on the front page also if you can figure out what is wrong someone may reach out. I highly recommend buying spare io cards tho one of each type should be enough. I have bad luck with bet per line displays too.

Not sure this will matter but I did notice on the picture of your cabinet I/O card that the back light harness appears not to be plugged in on the front of the card.
Was this an oversight or just unplugged so you could get a better picture. Retro is probably on the right track.
You must remove that door I/O that is at a 45 degree angle.  Also on all of the I/O cards inspect the pins and make sure none are bent or broken.

you guys are great. I will check all those points and clean and lube all the contacts with cleaner, and make sure all the pins are straight. one of the door I/O' boards was burned up, so there may be more damage down stream. I cant tell which card had been replaced. I will just have to get a new one and sub both of them one at a time. I might get the short card also to sub on the side of the mpu.  :thank_you:

update. I replaced 801/ 802/ and the I/O mounted on the side of the MPU. cleaned all the connectors checked for bent or broken pins. checked over wiring, all appears to be correct. I went through the clear/key process one more time for grins, and this time I was able to get the 7.1 config screen and the buttons took me thru the menus where I selected the basic stuff according to all the paper work I have. now the screen says call attendant/ closure M / print head up...  I think Im almost there ??

Closure M is not an error, just a message telling you the Main door was closed.  Print Head up I have never seen, but you might want to look at your printer to make sure the paper is inserted properly and the print head clamp is all the way down (you will need to raise the printer door to look at that).

If you have one of the older black printers make sure the screw on too is secure and the blue lever on the side is in the correct position.

congratulations every body. We did it. game is now working sort of. lol
especially thanks to Ken who sold me the parts that got me up and going.
I still have to go back into the config. and set some things that are not right.
I cant get off the .01 cent payoff. my touch screen wont let me change the denom value, volume is way too high, and the machine wont accept the tickets it just printed out.
I was a computer tech a few years ago, but not good at all with programing.

Was machine originally set up as multi denom. Does the VFD show that it will play different values?
If it just says insert coins you will need a key chip to change it to multi denom configuration.
Unless the machine has an aftermarket TITO system it will not accept printed tickets. That is why Rick said the printer is useless.
Volume should be easily set by going into the menus when you press the button on the mpu.
See the frequent questions on the S2000 page for details on navigation through the screens for machine adjustments

thanks to Ken all those questions have been resolved and the machine is playing as it was designed to do. I am so relieved to finally be done with it and I feel like I have learned a new skill. It's so much better to have a human teacher than trying to understand a fairly complicated electronic device by reading about it. undoubtedly you will not understand something in print, and you have no way to ask the question to clear up the problem. Maybe that's just me, but I do appreciate every one that pitched in and tried to help me restore this crazy ass machine. Luv ya'all...yhanks again, Randy

Did you need to key the machine?
Does it have TITO?

we started from the beginning. clear and key. if TITO is the printer for tickets, yes it has that and it spits out tickets if you want.

TITO allows you to actually put them back in the bill validator for credits.  Without TITO the Bill Validator will  just spit the ticket back out.

TITO is not the printer, it is a device that allows your machine to accept a ticket printed with the tito system installed.
