Fire Link Machines
« on: January 30, 2021, 10:24:39 PM »
I have several Fire Link Machines I had fireball games set up on. Well lets make a long story short and say all the boards got removed in a robbery. Luckily I recovered all of the boards back. I have placed them all back in the machines and 5 out of 9 are working fine. The other 4 are stuck on the loading Alpha OS screen and wont do anything else. Does this mean that these boards are bad or burned, possibly corrupt or do I just not have something plugged in correctly?

No I have not tried that. I do not know much about these machines, at least the technical part of it. Is that what I would need to do? Should I be asking a technician to do this for me or is this something that's not too hard to figure out. I simply put the boards back in the machines they came out of and plugged the inputs where they fit. So far there's only 4 that aren't work and are stuck on the screen in the photos.

Do you know if the boards in this 4 machines that are stuck on that screen could be damaged? maybe due to no cutting off the power before they were taken out by the thief or are they still ok? I'd imagine they are still ok as the other 5 are working fine.

That's possible but did you try to clear them and reboot to see if they proceed to the setup menu?

Not yet. I havent had a chance to have a tech come out with a clear card to clear those machines yet. I was just concerned that I may be having to buy new boards and that can be expensive. Upwards of 3500 a board right?

Depending on your area alpha 2 mpu's should go between 400-650 typically in used working condition.  I wouldn't be surprised if new ones were that high though, but you don't really need new ones.  How can you be sure that the mpu's went back into the correct machines?  If they were not placed into the same cabinet as before you would get the issues you are getting, a clear would fix that though.

Well luckily on the outside of the board cage the machine numbers are wrote in permanent marker. Don't know why I did that but glad I did. I dont think the MPU's are bad either because all of them were taken out the same way and I have more working than not working. For some reason it is just stuck on that loading screen. I want to go back in there and make sure I have everything plugged up where it should be. Again I'm not an expert but could that be the reason it makes it thru the whole boot process and then stops right there?

It is hard to diagnose problems like yours with just screen shots and descriptions.  A lot of the times, a clear will fix the issue.  Since the mpu's were removed and exposed to who knows what, the nvram might have become corrupted and causing your issue at hand.  You might have loose things on the mpu like the video card.  If you have never worked on these machines, I would find someone who has if you don't want to try the clear process by yourself.

:thank_you: Yeah I understand that. Hey if you need me to provide anything else so it better helps you understand the problem I surely will. I actually want to try the clear process myself. Just for my knowledge and for the future. If it happens again at least I would know how to use a clear card and what to do. I'll leave the programming and installing games, things of that nature to the professionals but this I want to learn. Not to keep asking questions but does anyone know where I can obtain a clear card for this Alpha machine?

Before you go down the trail of using a clear card, do you know how to set the game back up? If not, better off letting someone more knowledgeable.

Naaaaaahhhhhhh I'm actually going to learn how to do this myself. Ive ordered a clear card off of Ebay. Does anyone know where I can get the software/technology to set these Alphas back up once I use the clear card. If anyone has any knowledge of where to obtain this please reply or pm me personally......Especially if you're selling.

UPDATE!!

So Ive recently changed up the way I had these boards plugged in and I'm no longer stuck on the Loading OS screen that I was previously stuck on..I have made it further and I'm now on the screen below. If anyone can help me get past this screen or tell me what the next steps are it'd be greatly appreciated.  :hail:

Read the message in that box, what do you think it is saying, especially on the one above the last line. As for setup there are good videos on YouTube that show how to set your machines up. Do a search.
