S2000 Vision Top LCD Dead
« on: December 25, 2023, 05:00:03 PM »
I have a 3 coin Double Wild Cherry Pie S2000 that I purchased from a local ad for $250. It powered up but did not work. Put in a new battery on the LCD on top and the game started but the screen will not power on. The machine had a TITO device inside but wasn't installed. The ticket printer had the error light on but appears to be completely dead. I did a clear (IVC00224) and key (KEY00045) reset. Could change demonization but not activate the printer. function was not there.
Here is what I got and the sequence on start up:
-WBA-13-SS Bill validator will accept any bill with exception of new $100
-GEN 1 printer head, last ticket printed was in 2012 (found in machine) the paper in the machine is from Harrah's Reno 2006
-Flash Disk for top LCD has both Pinball (BGM00041) and Wild Cherry Pie (BGM00061) Bonus Games on ATA10065. I've seen Cherry Pie listed in other forums as BGM00007?
-IGT part number 62535100 C RadiSys P/N 67-1732-01 Product code PSF-067-01
Start Up:
Clears memory test then
"Waiting For The Video Display" during this the bill validator cycles then
"MSVERIFY: APP START" then the reels cycle
"RESART" & "DOOR CLOSURE M"
Hit Max bet and the game starts.

No visual burn out spots on the LCD board
Game payouts are correct. When bonus achieved it plays the funky music an pays out the 25 to 200 credits.

Any help appreciated with:
Dead LCD
Printer
Identifying Base and Stepper Chips (mine are missing labels)
Thanks!

In the topbox, look for a square-ish-looking 4-pin, 2-row white Molex connector.
It plugs into the back of the topbox LCD computer.

I can not find any stray harness that matches that molex connection. The wires are color coded red w/green stripe, solid green, green w/black stripe, red w/black. I checked through the wiring diagrams for this harness (not an expert at reading those) and could not find a part number. Can not find matching wires anywhere. Found these labeled as monitor and vision screen.

oh darn it...I forgot...that plug isn't used.
The LCD computer gets it's 13v power thru the Netplex connector next to it.

If you have a multimeter, you should check the Netplex connector for 13v.
Just  turn on the power switch, stick the probes on the red and green wires into the back of the housing.
See what voltage you get probing orange and green too.
I circled the Netplex connector.

If the game plays then it is safe to assume that the top box computer is working.
What is not working is the lcd. I would suggest checking or replacing the high voltage supply for the lcd.
I know bunker will have the specifics on p/n and placement..

okay yeah...shine a flashlight on the LCD on an angle.
Tell us if you see text or an image on the screen at all with the game booted up?
If so, that would definitely tell us that you need a new ballast.
If we find that you need to get a replacement, I can show you how to swap the burned out ballast with your replacement ballast.
The ballasts look like this photo below I'veattached, and can be ocassionally bought on places like ebay, amazon, etc etc.
Here's a link to one of 'em, but I uually look for something here in the U.S. rather than China.
Anything from china is okay, but it takes weeks to get packages from there...>>>

What you gotta punch in for searches is "Invertor board LS520"...and they look like this picture below...>>>

Looks like you guys may have found it. Pulled the plug to verify voltage (the mini fan for LCD stopped as well). Verified @ 12.99v. Did the flashlight test and you can faintly see the bonus game in progress. That pic attached as well as a working one i found on here. Where is the ballast? I can't find it out in the open? Going to start my search for one on the net. Sounds like I'm going to need some pointers on install....

The invertor board LS520 is pretty easy to find here and there.
When you get it in, I can show you in a short video how to install it.
This doesn't disprove if the LCD backlighting lams inside the LCD are any good though...you may still have to buy another LCD screen.
Luckily, I've found them listed here and there as replacement screens for POS cash register systems for restaurants...  :rotfl:

The model number is:

SHARP
LQ10D421
10.4" diagonal LCDs

Happy shopping!
Here's some links to some....>>>

Awww...oh well...at least you know for sure the lamps are burned out in the LCD.
You have a spare invertor for whenever the old one burns out.

Got the used screen installed. This one is definitely easier to see but not lit. Tried both inverters and still nothing, can only see with a flashlight. Maybe another inverter?

Aww...Two inverters tried and still not lit up means the lights inside are done, finished, burned out.
You need another LCD screen.
The inverters you bought are probably ok...save them.

I've marked your Topic as "Solved"

I like that Pinball game...played it a lot.
I have a round top Pinball glass, but it has a small chip on the bottom of one corner.
I'll take some pictures of it next Monday for ya...remind me then?
What's your zip? I'll see what it costs to ship.
