SP1271 and SP779(?) Volume Help
« on: March 03, 2021, 02:14:29 PM »
Hey there!

I just yesterday purchased my first two slot machines, and have been wading through every post I can find regarding how to adjust the casino-level, headache-inducing, future-noise-complaint-forcing volumes on these things.

I have looked high and low for the blue volume adjustment knob on both machines, but I think they are both the type that require volume adjustment through the menus? Being completely new at this, I have tried to follow the steps that I saw in other posts, but I just can't seem to find the right menus...

Here are the specs as I know them (please tell me if you need more information):

Machine 1: Triple Diamond Deluxe - SP1271
Machine 2: Double Diamond - SP779 (I pulled this using one of the other forums; that's what the digits told me) -- this one is weird because it acts like a Haywire machine but is not labeled as such.

I really don't know what else I would need to provide. Please be gentle. I'm new. :)

The blue knob if it exists is on the edge of the MPU tray.
With the machine off
- Remove the Hopper.
- Pull the MPU (black knob) and remove the board.

On the top edge of the board - opposite end from the edge connectors there should be small opening on the metal tray from which the blue wheel protrudes through.
This covers the majority of the boards in use - which are 10mhz.

There is a 16mhz chipset that does not have the wheel and the giveaway is a constant hum from the speaker even when the game is not in play.

Hope this helps.

Both of the SP chip numbers you posted are for 10MHz boards, which means that the volume control is indeed the blue dial on the MPU board, and is NOT controlled by settings in the machine. Look along the top edge of the board enclosure behind the hopper in your machine, assuming it's an upright machine.

The SP779 only supports Type 2 and 21 games (Haywire and Haywire Deluxe). Even if the machine has the wrong glass, it goes by what chips are installed, and that SP chip doesn't support non-Haywire games.

To Kevins point many games are clones of each other and other times the paytables are the same but have different features.

The process to certify a game is quite onerous and subsequently costly. The process was 3 runs of  10million spins and the payback had to be statistically within .01% of the stated payback.
I also believe that this is run on multiple machines to take out any kind of machine specific issues.

So if they can create 3 different reel and glass sets that all use the same chips they certainly will.

Ie Haywire and double diamond deluxe share the same paytable but when you hit a diamond on DD-dlx the reel moves up or down, while on haywire you hit the lightning and the wheels spin all crazy.

Thank you so much for all the responses! I was able to find the blue wheel using your detailed descriptions! I'm so excited -- it was the last major issue.  :applause:
