IGT S Plus not working

I know there has been a couple of post about IGT S Plus machines only powering up the lights and bill validator only and nothing else working...my new machine (Triple Triple Jackpot) that I picked up at an auction is doing the exact same thing.  I have checked the three fuses and they are all ok...I do have a mark on the second wire of the power harness on the motherboard and I plan on fixing that in the near future.


Now to my question...I have a second IGT S Plus machine (5 Times Pay) that is working fine.  If I take the MPU board out of it and put it into the Triple Triple Jackpot machine to test it (after I fix the wire on the power harness), will it work?  Are the boards interchangeable between machines?


I am hoping my only issue is the power wire, but just doing some trouble shooting pre-planning if the machine does not fire up properly after fixing the wire.  Thanks in advance for any insight on this.

Yes they are interchangable between cabinets.
Stick with 10Mhz MPU boards if possible....they will have the blue volume potentiometer dial on top.

NEVER pull out or install any circuit boards of any type with the power ON....ALWAYS turn off the power switch.

Do a lot of reading in the FAQ help sections for the S+ platform on the homepage.
That will help you a lot to understand your machine.

You could borrow the power harness from working machine or try cleaning the pins the burnt connector plugs into.  If you swap 10Mhz MPU's make sure they use the same SP chip or you will have to re-enable the BV and re-set the denom.

**UPDATE**


I took the wiring harness out of the bad machine and put it in the good machine...everything worked fine...


I pulled the MPU out of bad machine and put it in the good machine and I got a 67 error on the good the machine so I am assuming that the board is good...I did not want to try to clear the error code because I will be putting the good machine MPU back in.


So I am back to trying to figure out why the bad machine is still not working.  The MPU battery is good or it would not have given the error code in the good machine.  I guess my next step is to check the power supply and make sure it is good...everything I have read says that it is very rare that they go bad, but I think that should be my next step...

Well there you go. The harness from the power supply to MB is the problem. Most likely looks like this one. It is turned backward for illustration
