Author Topic: IGT S+ will not start up (Read 1800 times)

I have an S+ that when I turn the power: the lights come on, the bill validator stats up and the reels freeze and do not spin. I have checked the fuses, the power supply and replaced the power supply harness, which I bought from Jim. Any suggestions what the problem could be?

Given all that you've done and checked it sounds like there's something wrong with your MPU board. Do you have another one to swap it with?

The reel question (pun intended) is do the reels spin when the door is closed ? and does the Insert Coins Light come on.
If not I suspect one of two things.
1. The door optics are sho
2. The cash can door is open.

The cash can door usually has had its lock removed. Make sure the door is staying closed by using a small piece of electrical tape or duct tape.

Note if the candle is flashing and what segment ? as this will change when the door is closed and is a tell tale sign that the door optics are not functioning.

Jay, I made sure the cash door was closed all the way, I replaced the door optics, still nothing. I am looking for one of my other boards to swap out.

I swapped out the board in question with a board that works from another S+ that works. No luck.

I would then double down on the power harness from the center of the motherboard.
Usually when this is not right you don't get the square denomination light and the reels are not stiff
but I would disconnect and reseat this connector.

Did you use the original Game and Reel chips on the replace board? Maybe you have a bad SP EPROM?

I used different chips, the replacement board was set up for the same game.

I re seated the new power supply cable, after the machine turned on both candle lights are flashing, the reels freeze and the denomination light is illuminated. The bill holder door is shut all the way. I hope this helps anyone with another suggestion.

Upper candle has to be slow flashing then. How fast is the lower one flashing?

the upper candle is slower than the bottom candle. The bottom candle is flashing fast.

The machine thinks either the main or drop door is open then depending on if it's a medium or fast flashing lower candle. Drop door is probably a jumper somewhere, but I'm not sure where it's at.
