Is this functioning correctly?
« on: March 17, 2021, 11:30:55 AM »
Hello,

So the S+ Wild Cherry machine I have says "Machine Pays Up To 1000 Coins" "All Other Wins Paid By Attendant"

Last night I had 998 credits, spun the wheels and won 10 credits and the machine/hopper spit out the 10 quarters vs going to credits. Played a few more time and got the credit meter to 1000 exactly. Anything over 1000 credits gets payed out in quarters. Is this correct? Can it be changed? Should it be changed?

If I can get the credits up to 1000 even again, what would happen if I pushed the Cash/Credit button?

Not that big of a deal, just trying to make it as user friendly as possible.

Thanks for any help/suggestions,
Philip

Yes the behavior is correct, and yes it can be changed, although you'll need to have zero credits on the machine to change credit limits.

If you press cash out, it will likely pay out all of the credits on your credit meter, unless you have a newer SP chip that supports separate credit and hopper limits and you have configured them correctly.

knagl,

I would like it to not automatically pay out at 1000 credits.

I would like it to not to pay over 1000, just keep adding the credits and if you did cash out the service/top light come out and not pay coins. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks again and I will keep reading the setup codes...as I now know I can probably change the credit limit payout. Kinda hard deciphering but....

Post the SP chip number of your machine and we can tell you if it is capable of doing what you want or if you'll need a newer chip. The FAQs have a link for how to find your SP chip number if you need it.

Pending the right chip.....

You can set a hopper limit of 1 and anything over 1 credit will go into a hand pay requiring you to turn the jackpot reset key to clear the credit.
You can set a credit limit of 9999 so it will continue accumulating credits to 9999 and not pay out unless you hit the cash/credit button. Then it will be subject to the hopper limit per my first point.

Some people hack their machines by removing the wire that goes to the cash/credit button so people can't force a payout.

Thanks,

I have attached pics of the chip & board. I also read that even if I can do the changes the credit meter needs to be at zero. So, Im gonna play for a bit first....

Thanks again and please let me know if this chip will allow the changes.

On our home page. bottom right, is Ricks FAQs.
One of the items is how to display your SP (Game Chip) and your SS (Reel Chip) numbers on the screen. No pulling boards necessary.

SP731 will not allow separate hopper and credit settings, they are one and the same.  SP1271 will do the trick, that's what I use. Yo can set hopper limit low and credit limit high.  If you have a bill validator you will have to re-enable it and set the denom after changing SP chips with a set chip.  Send a PM to member RB.  He can hook you up with both the SP1271 chip and set15 chip.

don't know why the SP731 is offered -- the SP1271 is the best SP chip

The 731 was an older chip. For the home enthusiast it was desirable as certain themes could trigger different music (choice of 7 songs) when a win was made. The 1271 basically removed this feature to add a ton more bits of accounting that the gaming regulators wanted and it allowed for more progressive options. I set mine up to use a linked progressive for the two top awards and a igt standalone progressive at the same time. With the 731 you can only have one level of progressives (vs 4) or support for the IGT stand-alone but not both at the same time.

The chips are only 27c256 -  not a whole lot of room. I am pretty impressed with what they did With this little space.

Ive got a few machines that do not allow separate hopper, credit settings. Any have never taken the time to find out why. Now I know. thank you! So any machine can be upgraded to the better chip?

Yes for the most part.  There are some themes that require a specific SP chip which do not allow for separate settings.

Short answer yes you can use either series of chips.

Longer answer: Any machine can be any machine.
Glass, reel stop, and chips is called a game kit.
Change them out and your two coin black tie become a 5 coin, 5 line double diamond deluxe with reel nudge features.

The game theme is the “reel” chip. There is a PAR (pay table and reel) sheet that would describe the % payback, hit frequency, special features, tournament mode etc. Most importantly it tells you what “Type” of game you have. Ie Tupe 0 has no special features, type 2 has nudge, type 4 has haywire features etc. I could be way off on which type is which but the example stands that the PAR sheet will tell you what TYPE of game chip you need.

The “game chip” comes in different types. All you need to do is match a game chip that supports the matching  “type”. I think 632, 731 and 1271 all support type 0 games. The settings specific to the chip are described by the PSR (Program summary report) sheet. Some chips support Montana credits which allows you to put a bunch of coins in that all go to credit while most just allow you to put in max coins for the theme and only wins go to credit.

We have mini versions of these sheets posted under Ricks FAQ as the IGT online game bible. If you would like the actual documents for your theme you can post a request in the appropriate section and some kind soul will likely post them or email them to you if your profile is up to date. Best not to publish email addresses in open forum as advertising web crawlers tend to pick them up and spam you to death.
