IGT S+ CASH OUT button keeps paying out
« on: April 11, 2021, 06:31:15 PM »
I purchased a IGT 1989 S+ 5x Pays that wasn't working because of a dead battery. I changed the battery, 61 issue, used a clear chip and things seemed to work after that. However, whenever you push CASH OUT, even with just one credit, it pays out hundreds and hundreds of coins. But only 10 to 40 at a time and then the machine gives the 3300 code. Open and close the door and it starts paying again. It is necessary to do this dozens of times in order to clear just one credit. It needs to empty a full hopper at least twice. It takes a great deal of time. Also the machine seems to only do credit, doesn't pay out with a win, only pays when you push the CASH OUT button. Doesn't have a CASH/CREDIT button. Any idea how many coins should come out with just one or two credits? I tried putting in new Game Prom SP 731 and Reel Prom SS6276, the same numbered ones, that didn't change anything. Does anyone know how to correct the issue with the CASH OUT button and if I can get it to dispense coins when there is a win? Thank you for any help you may have to offer.

The answer is one or two coins. If you have one credit on the meter and press "cash out", it should dispense exactly one coin. If you have 17 credits on the meter and press "cash out" it should dispense exactly 17 coins.

It sounds like the machine is only occasionally detecting that a coin is exiting successfully from the hopper, even though many more coins are actually being dispensed.

Take a look at this recent thread: http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=31999.0

While the issue there isn't the same as your problem, I think you can benefit from the pictures and videos in that thread. In particular, observe the black upside-down U-shaped optics assembly at the top of the hopper. That set of optics is how the machine knows if a coin is being dispensed or not. Look on your machine to see if your coin-out optics are installed correctly. From your description either your coin-out optics are malfunctioning (not very likely, but putting it out there) or, and I think this is more likely, coins are not breaking the optic beam consistently as they're ejected from the hopper, causing the machine to not know that it has actually paid out a coin. The 3300 (hopper empty) error occurs after the machine has activated the hopper for a payout but has not detected that a coin has been paid out after a certain number of seconds.

To answer your other question, yes it is possible to set up your machine to always pay out coins instead of posting credits to the meter. Let's get your hopper operating correctly first and then we can go through the programming to put your machine in cash mode instead of credit mode.

Thank you so much! That thread helped a great deal. My hopper is missing a piece! It looks like the quarters are dropping too low to register on the optics. I am so grateful for your help. I am going to order the missing part.   Are able to help me with the next part, paying out coins instead of credits?

Sure! The steps involved vary slightly depending on which SP chip is in your machine. Please follow the directions in the following link to determine your SP chip number and post it here.
