SS Chip payouts

Perhaps someone could better explain to me the section under determining Your SS and SP chips. I have read and reread the section about the example that is posted many times trying to find the best chip for home use to get the most fun out of my S +.  According to the explanation it says, “The second column displays the payback percentage for max coins played and in parenthesis single coin. It's then followed by the Hit frequency, which is how many times you will get some sort of payout out of every 100 spins.”  With that said, I’m using the example of a 3 coin Hot Pepper Payout under the Bible section and chips SS4709 and SS8131. 4709 is a 97.425 pay out (I get that fact it’s an average in the life of the machine, some I’ve read say in a few million pulls).  The 4709 has a Hit Frequency of 19.6.  SS8131 with a mere 75.6% pay back has a much higher Hit Frequency 22.3 according to that 3rd column. So, would this mean that lower 8131 would be more fun to play as it hits more often (on average) in 100 pulls vrs the 97.425 which may hit bigger and in the long run payout more, but in fact pays less frequently 19.6 vrs 22.3. I’m probably missing something, but thought I’d ask as someone may be able to shed some light. I enjoy learning from everyone.  Thanks

One of the common ways of altering the payback percentage is by substituting a higher pay combo frequency with a lower pay combo.  While doing so, sometimes the net effect is that you will get more hits (albeit lower pays) on lower payback machines than on higher payback machines.  In the long run, it is a game of house advantage.  Honestly, it is unlikely that you will notice a significant perceived difference in play when you are looking at 3 more pays per 100 pulls.  I would rather get 3 less pays with higher pays than 3 more pays with lower pays.  In the long run, your bankroll will last longer on the machine with the higher pays, statistically speaking.
