Welcome back!

First lets test the key lock lever. When you turn the key the lever should block the switch photo eye and the LED light should go out. If it does we're good, if not try blocking with a piece of paper. If it's still on the switch is bad.

Next we need to find the 32vdc to the coin comparator. Yep, the violet & blue wires should have 32vdc but only when the machine is ready to run. On the CN-10 9 pin plug (see photo) check for 32vdc between pin 7 (violet) and pin 8 (black). If the CN39 pigtail is there it's easier to check for voltage at the pigtail. The black wire and violet wire should have 32vdc. The blue wire is the comparator inhibit control wire. So if we have 32vdc between the violet and black wires then I still think there's a permissive holding us out.

Also take a look at the backside of the white cherry switch, the wires need to be connected the same as the ones in the attached photo.

Pull harder!  :24:

Or push in, pull out repeatedly. That might get 'er out.

 Or... Flip her over.

That coin chute is the overflow. When the hopper gets to a certain weight (you can set it) it "leans" on a switch that activates a diverter, directing the money down to a bucket below in the (locked) stand. If you look at where the coins drop in, inside the door, you should see the diverter coil. There's also a lockout behind the coin mechanism. That engages when the highest amount of coins are inserted, usually 1 - 5 depending on the machine. I can't quite see yours... the photo is too small - 3 maybe? When the lockout engages, any additional coins inserted will simply fall in the tray.  :propeller:
In the casino the "drop money" that is diverted into the bottom drop hole is collected late at night in a ritual called "the drop" and is operated by the "drop team" who are escorted by a team of security guards.
The drop money is counted and that is the profit for the casino. Those coins are rolled up to produce rolls of quarters and nickles which are taken to the change booth and sold to the casino customer
to play in the games.
The money that is vended and falls into the hopper is kept there and is not considered casino profit, it is called the "players money". If the hopper  is too full the weight of the excess coins tilts a "weight switch" on the hopper and opens the diverter flap to allow the coins to fall into the drop.

The counter mechanism is what I can not get out...  The pin has been pulled, I have put power to it, the crank turns....  Nothing is bound up..  I just can not get the counter mechanism out to work on and clean up...  When I attempt to pull it out, it moves about 1/4 inch and stops...

Remove the 2. batteries and try a clear without the batteries to see if the error goes away.  If it does, after the clear put the batteries back and do the clear again before you try to boot with os and game.

Unfortunately, running the clear on the MPU with both batteries removed gave me the same results.  I'm assuming when you said both batteries you meant both on the MPU.

Found a video of a similar model.  If you skip to approx. time 19:06 it will show the disassembly.

Not real familiar with them.  But isn't there a long cross pin that goes thru the count mechanism drawer from one side to the other.  That would need to be removed.  Then there is a metal plate that cover the side crank handle with a long screw in it.  Once that cover plate and screw are removed the count mechanism should slide out.

The only part of the top is where the two flaps open to drop the coins into the counter.  The base case is made of about 3/8 inch steel, this was made in the early 20's, they were made with steel back then.  Not with recycled beer cans like today... lol  The bottom case alone weighs about 45 pounds...  I also hope that someone out there knows about these and can help.  I have restored the glass top half, but need to get the lower drawer out to finish the redo...

the hopper has the payout counter stepper unit on it (like bally EM pinballs).  The disc on the hopper just needs to support the payouts listed on your glass.

the model number is supposed to be on a plate on the outside of the cabinet below the handle, but it's not unusual to be missing or the wrong one.

is there anything written in black sharpie on the reel mechanism or the contact plates the reel wiper arms are swiping across?

if that's no good, there should be codes stamped into the slotted metal index discs next to each reel ... what are they?

"yankee doodle dandy" could be model 1072, which I don't have much info on.
