I have an Alpha 2 Pro Wave. It has been running fine until today when I installed 'Velocity Multi-Game'. I swapped out the hard drive for the one I purchased with Velocity software loaded. I did a clear, then installed the games and configured them. The machine was up and running fine for about an hour, then the topper, main monitor and ideck all went black. The cabinet lights were on and the cabinet had power, but the machine looked dead. When I rebooted, the monitor displayed the boot up and the Alpha OS logo. When it got to where it should be loading the game, it went black again. I don't know if it was just a coincidence of timing or if it bombed at a particular spot in the booting process.
I plan to check it out closer tomorrow. I'll first try reseating the graphics card. The card not being fully seated has caused some problems in the past. If the monitors go black again, I'll confirm whether power is present. Swap power supplies. I'll do a clear and reload the game again. If nothing else works, I'll swap the hard drive back and install the prior game.
Does anyone have any ideas of what could cause all the monitors to go down like this, yet the main monitor was later functional during at least part of the reboot ? Can a corrupt hard drive or corrupt software cause this? Bad graphics card? Weak power supply?
