Reel light and sound issues
« on: January 31, 2021, 01:10:37 PM »
Hello,

Do all games on a s2000 support lit reels? I’m beginning to think that my machine does not currently support it. Is this possible? Currently I’ve cleaned up some bad wiring, replaced all bulbs and tried another board (from what I was told reel light board) with no luck. I ran a reel light test and nothing happened. A separate issue related to sound pointed that the source of hiss may be from the lights on the reels. I have fixed other issues on the machine and it runs fine now however these two issues are bothering me. I have about a weekend of research on slots so go easy on me 😀. I tried to post pics but they all are coming up too large.

You are missing at least one back lit harness that plugs into the I/O card.  Need more pics of behind the hopper right side. Want to see if you have a backlit controller board.

The board you replaced in top box is the sound amp.

You need a backlit controller and both backlit harnesses.

The controller board mounts to the right of the bell.

I was understanding that the backlight controller board is in the top cabinet on the right side. I’ve attached a pic. This was the board I swapped to see if bad.

There is not a backlight controller in that machine. It does not go in the top box. You may or may not have a backlit reel harness. Is there an unused connector at the end of your harness or does it terminate at reel #3? You definitely need one harness, possibly two and a controller. I assume you do have lighted reels. Why would you think your getting a hiss from the reel lights if they don't work?

Can you tell me what the board on top I replaced controls? A local shop steered me in the wrong direction

In terms of the harness for the reels - I traced the harness and it runs from the board and ends at the reels. The second photo shows what I assume to be the harness part number and black plug the goes in to the board

See reply #5

You need both harnesses.

Ha...yea now I feel like an idiot. Don’t know how I missed that. So this makes sense now. I replace the harness that I snapped the pic of with a new harness that plugs into the reels then into module. The other harness just plugs into a supply for power of the module. I assume I can use either of these plugs - 3 or 4.

Last question. Is anything missing for plugs 1 and 2 and does anything else need changed to add the reel light controller? I assume it’s plug and play.

After further review I assume the new harness would plug into harness labeled 4

#1 & 2 are not used. #3 plugs into the controller. #4 is for a printer in the main cabinet. I have all the needed parts as pictured in my previous reply. PM me if interested.

In the pic with a circle #2 is where the other end of where one harness goes from the controller.

Look again Mark. #2 is where a jumper goes if you have a bonus reel game such as Super Spin Siz 7.
