I had to step away from my current projects and got bored. Once im back to slot stuff i plan to find a way to run it none stop to see how long it lasts. That is if it even survives the print.

I haven’t had it for long. I honestly don’t expect this piece to work but i just had to try. Maybe i can use the printer to print some parts that dont need fo be as strong. We will see.

Well it didn’t turn out well. I printed it up side down with support material thinking maybe it would be less likely to warp. Im kinda new to 3d printing and didn’t stop to think that much support structure would make the actual surface of the plate rough. I expected this part to be a fail and only printed it in 15% infill to save material. Im going to try to clean this one up enough that i can still run it. If it works at all i will re print upright and with 100% infill. It is surprisingly strong for being mostly hollow. With how quickly these plates would wear out it would have to be considered a disposable part like the knife.

Next you need to get an SLA photo-curing resin printer. I use mine to make small, fine detail tools to use on hard disk drive head assemblies. (Head combs) I was making them on a small CNC mill but this is much easier. I have a QIDI Shadow 5s.  Plenty of info on the internet about process conditions and materials for 3D printers. They are fun!

Definitely on the list if things to buy. Lmao I actually know what w head comb is. I was going through the process of learning data recover at a computer repair shop when they ended up closing instead of expanding there services.

Just a bit of an update. Poor print as mentioned in my previous post, but can probably be cleaned up a bit for a test. The screw holes need to be adjusted a bit but no bid deal.

Do you have a scanner to make a file for the printer? I  know nothing about 3D printing.

I just used the role of pla that came with the printer for now it it seemed even remotely viable as an option i was going to research other materials.
