I guess it's my turn to rant a little.

 
For some reason, there are a few members who, for several years now, seem to think that in order to donate enough for several tickets that they have to make a dozen $25 donations in a row, even if they are just minutes or a few hours apart. I have mentioned this quietly in years past, but that hasn't solved the problem.

PLEASE STOP DOING THAT!   I can't tell you how much extra work that makes for me. Every part of each transaction has to be copied and pasted into an Excel spreadsheet that serves as our audit trail. It doesn't matter that it's the same person -- they are different transactions with different ID numbers and time/date stamps. I end up with needless extra work and extra records in the spreadsheet. More emails (one for every donation) also means more chances to make mistakes, and more double checking for me to be sure that none are made. Please remember that I'm volunteering my time to do this.

Most members simply donate some multiple of $25 and that make things much easier to handle. I understand if someone needs to break up their donations between months because of cash flow or budget concerns, but if one is planning to donate a certain amount within a week or two, just make one donation for the entire amount, and for heaven's sake, don't make a dozen donations two minutes apart.

This week I received 29 donation emails for 17 people, and this isn't the only week it's happened.



I certainly don't want to discourage donations, and on behalf of NLG and Joey I want to thank everyone who has donated, no matter how they did it or how much or when. Every bit helps the site. Again, please remember that I don't benefit from the giveaway and my time is important to me, as I'm sure your time is important to you. For those who make multiple $25 donations back to back, please help me to get these updates done more quickly by making one larger donation next year.

P.S. Remember not to mention drawing entries or tickets or anything like that in your Paypal Memos. Paypal doesn't like it and may close Joey's account if they see messages like that.
