Boy, this Williams Bluebird II stuff is SCRAP....way overpriced computer video junks. :banghead:
I could have more fun with my girlfriend and a Sony Playstation.... :rotfl:
Anybody know of a good thermal/adhesive for these heatsinks?  :scratch-head_2:

Man..You have a girlfriend AND a PlayStation and your pulling your WMS boards apart just for kicks???

Perhaps a game or two  of golf would keep you out of trouble in WMS world??

Search AMAZON for thermal paste and get busy with it!!

Search Amazon for 'Thermal Adhesive Tape'. Those look like they are just glued on.

Best way to apply the Artic Silver for good thermal conduction?
Also, is it like an adhesive as well?


Use a little rubbing alcohol and remove the old thermal paste from the processors.  Apply a bb sized drop of thermal paste to each of the 2 processors (Circled in black). Replace the heatsink.

I was able to remove all off the gray stuff from the heat sinks no problem.
Dried out for sure....and fine sandpaper works well.

I will use thermal paste on the CPU and the thermal glue on the other one.

NO! Don't use sandpaper! Also put thermal paste on BOTH which I circled in the picture.

I scraped off a LOT if it with an Exacto knife.
It came off like in flakes pretty easily but there was slight small pieces of residue still stuck which I use a fine grit sandpaper to remove off of the bottom of the aluminum heatsink.
I use thermal paste on both sides and used the clamp to hold down the heat to the top of the cpu chip.
I didn't have any fancy thermal adhesive for the other heatsink so I mixed 1-1-1 2 piece epoxy with thermal paste.

The results are fantastic....the processor sensor is showing steady temperature around 102 degrees F.
Hasn't changed all evening as I was playing a game and checking from time to time.
It has been running for about 50 hours without being turned off.

I am happy with the results but I wish I knew why this one MPU runs a little hotter than my other ones.

I can throw in a different CF flash card wit ha different game on it and I get a cooler temperature.

Does it warm up due to brighter graphic colors of Jungle Wild II than say Spartacus?

I'm re-loading Spartacus to show you the sensor temperature now.

For some reason, the WMS Bb2 Spartacus runs about 15 degrees cooler than the WMS BB2 Jungle Wild II....  :Scratch-Head:

Same MPU, same OS CF card, just different game software plus a dongle!
