Bally S5500 Bill Validator Stays Red
« on: July 19, 2023, 12:06:51 PM »
Okay kids, My next issue with my 1996ish s5500 is that the bill validator stays red and will not accept bills. It's a DBV-200-A244. A previous owner has modified the machine to remove the bill stacker. The bottom switch in the stacker cabinet has been pinned closed and the top lock switch in the same cabinet has been jumpered. The validator goes through its startup cycle then lights up red each time the machine is turned on or the main door is opened then closed. I've tried cleaning the validator with cotton swabs. It randomly turned green one day without any intervention, but turned red again after taking a one dollar bill and it didn't add any credits to the machine.

I bought the machine on craigslist and the previous owner didn't know much about its history (he got it at a garage sale), but it's entirely possible that one of y'all did the modifications on this machine.

I have the same issue. My bill validator worked for years until recently. I had a new DBV200 Stackerless installed and it wont go from red to green. I have tried changing the switches but can't seem to get one set that works. Does anyone know what the switches on the board should be set to? Any ideas?
