Remove voucher error
« on: August 30, 2023, 10:11:46 PM »
I just purchased a WMS Slot Machine, no issues on boot up.
However, after a few plays, I printed a voucher.  After the print the machine locked up and says remove voucher.
No voucher to remove and no clue on how to clear this up.  I tried a hard reboot with no luck.  Printer is green and shows no jams.
Any clue by anyone?
I appreciate the help and potential solutions.

Does the printer have paper?  Did it actually print a ticket?  You may have a bad printer if it printed a ticket and the message did not go away (it is a sensor).  With the power off open the printer head and look for anything inside that may be blocking a sensor, like pieces of paper from other tickets, etc.  If everything looks clean and you have no other printer to replace that one, then you will need to run a clear procedure and setup the game from scratch.  If you don't have a good printer or don't want to buy another one, do not setup a printer when doing the setup after the clear procedure, the machine will go to handpay and you will just need to twist the jackpot reset key to clear.  Did you get a clear card when you bought the machine?

Does the printer have paper?  Yes and i checked for any jams, none and blanket ticket feeds thru the printer.
Did it actually print a ticket?  You may have a bad printer if it printed a ticket and the message did not go away (it is a sensor).  Printed one ticket and then failed.
With the power off open the printer head and look for anything inside that may be blocking a sensor, like pieces of paper from other tickets, etc.  If everything looks clean and you have no other printer to replace that one, then you will need to run a clear procedure and setup the game from scratch.   Checked the printer, i can't see any jams.  Any other suggestions in terms of where to look?  Sensor is located where?
If you don't have a good printer or don't want to buy another one, do not setup a printer when doing the setup after the clear procedure, the machine will go to handpay and you will just need to twist the jackpot reset key to clear.  Did you get a clear card when you bought the machine?  Company is sending a clear card.  I was looking online at refurbished printers, ~$100 bucks.  Reasonable priced?  any suggestions on what to get if i go this route?
Thanks again for the help.

The printer needs to be programmed with specific firmware for your machine type, otherwise it doesn't work.  Future Logic Gen 2 or Gen 2 universals are what is typically used on these machines, although sometimes you will see Epic printers.  If you get a new printer make sure to ask if the printer works for a WMS Blubird machine, if they can't tell you, you can ask what firmware is on the printer (there's usually a label) and you can ask here if it will work.

You could try to print a test ticket.  With the machine powered off, hold down the paper feed button on the printer and then power up the cabinet.  The printer should print a test ticket with the firmware information.\

Also if I remember correctly, sometimes you can clear the error by opening and closing the main door while the machine is powered up with the error.

Test printer worked fine, but the error remains.
Can it still be a bad printer? ie the printer sensor?
Or more likely the software?

It is a printer sensor error then, did you try opening and closing the door after the game booted to see if it would clear the error?  If it does not, then the printer is not telling the system the paper has been removed.  You could do a clear and setup the game again, leave the printer disabled so you don't have the issue again.  Or get a known working printer for your machine, preferably the exact same kind so you don't run into bracket and bezel issues.
