E-2000 "7" Error (M7)
« on: August 01, 2021, 02:02:35 AM »
When I start machine, I get a quick 6 in the far right LED followed by a 7 in the far left window indicating a M7 chip fault.

- I replaced the battery with a Li-ion rechargeable 3.7V - still get same code
- I reseated the M1, M2, M3 and M7 chips - still get same code

- Test Clips on MPU measures 5V
- Test Clips on I/O measures 5V
- Test Clips on PS measures 5V (+5), 7V (ZC) and 9V (+UR)

What should my next steps be to address this error code?

Thanks,

Shane

Solder a jumper across the contacts of RLY1.

Remove the RAM board and clean the mounting pins on the MPU board.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

Thanks for the quick replies GOS and Badbaud.

- How do I check the 5101 proms?
- Can I use 90% alcohol and Q-Tip to clean the mounting pins
- What is the purpose of jumping the contacts on the RLY1

Thanks again.  I'm new to all this and appreciate the help.

RLY1 is part of a low voltage detect circuit and due to old components will start stuttering for no reason causing the game to reset randomly.
Jumper the relay contacts to bypass those circuit interruptions.

Should I jumper the contacts with wire or just solder across the contacts?

Jump the two outside legs of the relay together with a wire.

DO NOT jump the two inside legs, those are the relays coil and have voltage on them.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.
