Something weird is happening on my Bally 6000 slot
« on: April 03, 2016, 07:18:39 PM »
Something that I don't understand is happening on my Bally 6000 slot machine. I have done a game change on it and everything works but I want to change the denomination to nickel play. I did a complete ram clear, set the #2 dip switch positions 1-4 as follows:  #1=ON, #2-OFF, #3-OFF, #4-OFF. I then turned the machine on and pressed the test button 11 times. I went to option #10 (coin denomination) and it shows 0015
(penny play). I pressed the SPIN button to try to change the 0015 to 0014 (nickel play), but as soon as I press the SPIN button, ERR comes up and I am unable to set it to 0014. Then, just to see if I could change the machine to take quarters I did another complete ram clear and changed the #1 dip switch settings as follows: #1-OFF, #2-OFF, #3-ON, #4-OFF. I then turned the machine on and pressed the test button 11 times and went to option #10 (coin denomination). I showed 0011 for quarter play. I then closed the door and inserted a dollar bill in the bill acceptor and it gave me 4 credits. So now I know that I can get it to run quarters but why can't I change it to take nickels? What am I doing wrong? ??? ? Can somebody help me?
Thank you.

First off you'll want to set Dip Switch 2 not Dip Switch 1. Set position #1 to ON, #2 to OFF, #3 to OFF, #4 to OFF then perform SafeRam clear and you're finished. No need to change any 11d options, it's all done through Dip Switch 2.

Opps.....I typed dip switch #1 in my post but I really meant to type in Dip Switch #2.
I did as you said, but it comes up as 0015.
So, my problem persists as stated above.
Being advised of my initial typing error (dip switch #1) I have now changed it in my original posting to dip switch #2 as I had meant to type in.

11d options for denomination cannot be set. Simply set dip switch 2 perform saferam clear and your done. It doesn't matter what 11d option 10 says. To prove it put a dollar bill in the validator, unless something else is terribly wrong you should get 20 credits for $1.

Make sure position #1 is definitely clicked to ON. If it's not fully engaged you'll end up with .01¢ denomination. If you're positive that it is ON then the switch bank may be faulty and will need to be replaced. Easy enough to change, it just plugs into the socket on the mpu.

Thanks for the tip. I will certainly give that a try. It sounds like you may be right on with your suggestion.
