Monte carlo setup
« on: August 06, 2018, 07:49:15 PM »
hi gang.  i have a monte carlo and have replaced the battery and have done a complete clear...i put in an 11d lidt i found but i bet it is wrong...i need an 11d setup list for tito / nohopper.  also i am getting a 9.1.0 error and i understand i still need to check for a battery in the top?  also do i need to program the top? is there a procedure for that?  I'm an IGT guy and have little experience with Bally's....any help would be greatly appreciated!

Which bally platform are you working on? 6000? The only battery in the top box on a 6000 would be for a progressive display and if that's dead then you would also have to have the progressive programmed after the battery change. Might be easier to bypass it

You can try these settings which are for TITO  on a Cashwheel machine. Leave settings #2 & #7 at factory default as they are for a progressive display in the top box. The settings on this list for 2 and 7 are for a working progressive dislpay.    http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=20575.0;attach=58962;image

Leave settings #2 & #7 at default 0 for each. That should take care of error code 91

Unless you have access to someone that can program the progressive for you, if the battery in the progressive controller is dead then you will need to bypass it. I sold my machine, but Randy at AZ slots is really good at programming instructions to bypass the progressive on these. Send him a PM

ok i put in that list of settings....i do notice when i boot the machine the cash wheel resets itself.....and my error has now changed to "9.1.-"i looked inside the top box but i did not see a battery anywhere....i saw a board that looks like it runs the cash wheel but there is a big dot display on the front.....is that the progressive display?  i guess i don't know what I am looking for but I didn't see any boards with a battery on it....also I need to understand what TITO actually means...it meansd it takes dollars and prints out tickets i would assume....i see the hopper has a jumper plug on it *(and no hopper of course) and no coin in....i'll post some pictures I took, maybe you can explain all the buttons and displays below this cash wheel?  thanks....(uggh i hate being a noob)

Yes, that is the display for the progressive. It has a control box in the cabinet behind it and the speakers. Trace the wires back, open that box, find and check voltage on the 3v memory battery mounted to the board. If it'dead, the only way to make the progressive work would be to find someone who has programming software for it and can send it to you or program it for you. It takes a special plug and older computer to do it

Would that be a Mikhon progressive controller or something different?

Perhaps someone removed the progressive controller before you got the machine? You can post photos of the inside of the machine, specifically the area behind the progressive display & top glass. Or follow any cables/wires from the progressive display and see if they are loose and disconnected. The progressive controller is often inside a metal box but sometimes it is a bare board mounted to a metal tray.

The smaller display, rectangular opening and buttons you are asking about are most likely for the player's card equipment.

Sounds like the machine is setup for coinless operation. Does it have a ticket printer installed?

I'm not too familiar with Bally 6000, but I think that "91" series errors are related to a progressive jackpot communications problem, the machine is trying to connect to the casino network or the progressive controller for the progressive data information (or some type of comm problem). In the setup menu you should be able to set the progressive jackpot type to OFF. There are also some jumpers on the mpu board that are related to the progressive jackpot comm channel. But they probably do not matter if you set the progressive operation to OFF in the setup menu option #2. just a guess.

The Bally 6000 has a zillion settings options, I think you'll find it can sometimes be more complicated to setup than an IGT machine. Hopefully if you get the progressive feature turned off the machine will boot and play ok. But like I said, most of this is just a guess, maybe someone that knows the Bally 6000 will give some advice & suggestions.

Here is a diagram showing one example of a progressive controller located in the top box area:
