Hey guys,

I just purchased a Bally S5500 Black and white double jackpot that I am planning to give to my wife for Xmas.
Here's the details:

Model # Pro-Slot S62M3WR10
MFG date 08/97

It's used and was probably in operation commercially in the past. I noticed the machine was a bit outdated since the new coins and bills wont work for it. It only work with the old Canadian dollar coin and the old bills (before the new plastic ones)

For the coin comparator, it's using a X-10 Xeptor

X-10 X-Mark Xeptor
XEPTOR 3.0Q, date 4/4/00
It says the Xeptor is assumed for use in a Bally-IGT slot machine and is factory set on thickness and diameter for a .25 coin. I assume since it’s using loonies right now, it must have different inserts for thickness inserted. They seem to be pink.
The instruction to reprogram it are very clear, however I cannot get the LED to light up. Basically when I power up the machine, the LED turn green for a sec, then turn off.  http://www.idxinc.com/learn.htm
No matter which mode, or if I press the test button, it doesn’t light up again. I am suspecting that it’s due to a Xkey security lock on the program?

If it is, what are my alternatives? Is there a way to reset the X10, or I have to change the unit? It seems like a good model since it can accept multiple coin type, I was reading that the CC-16D might also work as well.

Would be great if you guys can give me some advices. I have 4 old loonies now and the machine is working perfectly. It's only the coin / cash acceptor that I need to update on it.

When a machine is programmed to use 1 dollar coins, is there a way to change it to quarters? I have other coin op machines and it would be nice if everything is in quarters like the rest since I have bucket of those.

Thanks

Just a guess, maybe the power to the comparator is only on constantly when the door is closed?

Try pulling out the door button and see if the light stays on.

Thanks for the tip. It was indeed the reason while the LED wouldn't stay on.
However I believe the X10 unit is locked since instead of turning red (learning mode) it goes to green/red (which is usual for learning completed).
I also contacted the company and they mentioned that all slots need to have the programming locked here in Canada since it's a requirement from the gambling commission etc.
I need to send them the unit and they will unlock it so it can be re-programmed again without the xkey.

Regarding the bill collector, is it re programmable usually to accept newer bill types (CAD new plastic bill in this case) or I need to change the entire unit?

Here's the bill collector model:

MODEL: CBA-135-SG-0000-B043
DC 12V 1.0A
JAPAN CASH MACHINE CO., LTD.
Made in Japan

It currently takes Canadian bills, but just the older ones.

I would recommend the CC16-D to replace your coin mech. The S5500 is an older model and most likely will not be able to upgrade the CBA-135. JCM most likely dropped support on that unit a while ago. Not sure if you can find a upgraded replacement for the new bills?

A CC62 is what I usually see in a 5000. Never seen a CC16 used.
