E2000 44 tilt code
« on: January 01, 2016, 11:26:00 AM »
I have this machine now almost fully functional..... unit coins and plays one game then tilts with a 44 code ..... from what I found thats for reels 4 .... I swapped reader from 3 to 4 condition still exists,  verified all wiring from reader all the way back to the I/O thats ok ... The 8T98 on the I/O was at some point in the past changed to a 74LS368 by someone, I swapped that with a new 368, no change, replaced the 7417 on the decoder board and the 7414, all I had here were a 7417n and a 74LS14... Is the LS a suitable replacement for the "c" ?? also swapped the 145...the 145,17 and 14 were pulled from what i am pretty sure were working boards.....what should I suspect next with this condition ???

I have had problems using standard TTL for the 74C14 but don't really know why. What I use is
a CD40106. This really doesn't sound like the problem though because the other 3 reels are being
decoded and they all use the same chips.

When you move reader 4 to a different slot, does the error code change to 4x, where x is the new
reel location? If it does change then that reader board is bad, if it doesn't then I would suspect
a bad connection on the connector.

Somewhere you mentioned being able to see the lights on the reel readers being lit up so this would
indicate that you have the 50 volt reader cards. While the bulbs may light, the photo-transistor behind
one of the bulbs could be bad, however the bad reel reader problem would follow the slot.

I wrote a procedure to test reel reader cards an one of the board members allowed me to post
that on his website, the procedures are located at http://www.coinslots.com/tips/bally-e-series/
