Bally Classic Consoles?
« on: June 15, 2020, 09:01:58 PM »
I'm curious if anybody has any experience with the last of the Bally EMs, the classic console models (6090, 6809, 6091, 6831, 6873).  Are these reliable?  Is getting parts for them any more difficult than a common (742, 809, 873, etc) Bally EM?  Any reason to either seek out or avoid them?  Value?

according to a Marshall fey book, the machines were developed by Games of Nevada and marketed by Bally.

"The public reception was poor causing production to last for only a short time".

'course, that could mean someone has a pile of parts with little demand for them ... but since bally made the later 6000 series and there's also earlier mechanical console machines, finding parts/information could be harder.

I own 3 of them.  Two of the standard classic's and one from the MGM.  As wolftalk stated they were not real popular.  Mine were more of a sentimental purchase as I knew Mickey W. and Nick G. who were the original designers of them before they sold them to Bally.

All three work fine. one of them is pictured below.  There are a few parts in them that I am sure would be difficult to replace.

I believe a few perished in the MGM fire.

Of all the Classics, the model shown in your picture is my favorite. I've been searching for that Unicorn for some time. Thanks for sharing!

slcjeeper,

Nick Gutknecht who designed these games had a passion for cars.  When you step up to them and grab the handle to play you can see it and feel it.  :cool_thumb_up:

  Attached is the MGM game.

By the way. The lift struts for the top door are a pain to source.
