What the heck is it?
« on: April 13, 2014, 04:55:14 PM »
I got this machine today for free. I know nothing about it. It has an error code of 3.11. Anyone have a clue or need anything off it?

The little I know about these is, it is from the early 80's and was one of the first to use a stepper motor, and also has a mystery nudge feature. Here's where you may learn some more.

I found the same info...  What's puzzling is the  $  signs on the glass.   (English manufacturer for  US ? ) JPM  is still manufacturing amusement fruit machines  located in the UK)

Another interesting "debate"  would be the  "Who's first with  stepper reels"....   Universal  say they were... JPM  makes a similar claim.

Another member recently asked the same question about his made-in-England  Summit slot.
A couple of possibilities come to mind:
1. Many offshore manufacturers tried to get in on the US market; as you know, a few were reasonably successful.
2. The $ before the number, and cent-mark after it, are also used in Canada and Australia.
3. I have seen US-coinage slot machines on non-US cruise ships, and in a few Caribbean resorts for US tourists.

If you can, post some inside-pictures, and the label. They will add to the interest, and perhaps we can help.

Universal was not the first with the stepper reels. Stepper reels were widely used in England and they were used for nudging features.
What Universal credits itself for is combining stepper reels with a computerized control board.

Universal was the first to COMBINE stepper reels with computer (RNG) technology. Stepper reels were in English pubs years before the computerized slot.
