S2000 reel strip alignment issue
« on: November 27, 2017, 12:06:59 PM »
Hi everyone.

Is there a way to "fine tune" the alignment of reels in an S2000 machine?  I recently installed a set of strips into some spare S2000 reels I had laying around, and one of the reels is significantly off the payline compared to the other two reels.  I have the strips installed correctly, with the notches in the strip lining up with the notch holder in the reel basket.  As you can see in the attached picture, all three of them are different, but the middle reel is the one I'd really like to fix if possible.

Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

Could one of the reel baskets be slightly larger circumference than the other baskets, perhaps it was made by a different company for IGT? Or maybe the middle strip isn't the same length as the other strips? If you took the middle strip and put it on the left or right basket would that prove what's going on?

Is it possible that you have a slant top reel basket? The strip alignment is different than an upright. Stephanie.

On S2000 baskets there are usually 2 notches on the basket about a half or 3/4" apart. Did you maybe catch the wrong notch?

If it is certain the strips are in the correct notches etc, I have loosened and tweaked the opto-interrupter that looks at the timing slots on the inside of reel. I can get +- 1/8" or so on stop positions...

Thanks for all the feedback.  All three reel baskets are the same, so I'm not entirely sure what the issue was.  Either the second reel is just misaligned, or the notches were cut wrong in the reel strip I have.  I'll see when I put a different game in there at some point.

To fix the issue, I basically just cheated the alignment a little bit, leaving the notches in the reel strip a little below the notch in the basket, by about 1/4".  Now everything lines up.  Works for me for now.
