Vision problem

i have  Double diamond Run vision machine that had no power except the inside light.
I replaced the power supply and now the machine comes on but the machine never gets past initializing on the screen
I have checked some of the threads but nothing seams to fit the problem.

Does the VFD say "waiting for video display " ?
Have you looked at what BGM file is on the card for the top box?

What does the VFD on the panel say?
There is something wrong with the MPU.
VFD should start off waiting for video display then change to  msverify app start shortly after the the top screen says initializing.
If that is happening try reseating the wiring to the top box.
If the VFD doesn't go through the normal cycle ie: checking memory, netplex etc. The problem is something with your MPU.

Still could be a chip or something on the MPU. Even a bad I/O card. My point being you need to do your normal troubleshooting like any other non vision s2000 that's not booting. The top box appears to be working. It's waiting for a signal from the MPU that it has completed it's checks and is ready to go.

Darrell, putting a jumper on the monitor JP1 I think will show everything the monitor is doing during start-up. Not on home computer, so no photo. JP is to the left of the memory sticks on left back of monitor

Agreed. Anytime that I have seen "initializing...please wait" and it's just stuck there, it was a machine issue. Top box is waiting for MPU, Netplex, etc... Rich is right on.


Jim mentions J1. Good to see what all is loading in the toip box. Jump J1 to see the boot process.
