Hello all.  I purchased a used Triple Diamond Deluxe for the purpose of removing the IGT MPU PCB and installing my own PCB controls for the slot machine. I hope this is OK to do? I am an Electronic Technician and enjoy working on, repairing and modifying electrical/mechanical units. I hope to get some information on getting my 'used' slot machine working before I do any modifications. If anyone has done this type of work, I would be interested to know. My unit does have a couple of problems, hopper has no power, no sound and bill validator has no power. At least I think the no power is correct, I may need to work out the setup menu some more. I have been looking around to see what would help with these items and this forum looks to be the place to be. Hope to get to know a few of you here and I am looking forward to my new project. It is an IGT S2000.

You can fix almost any electronic device by replacing the aluminum electrolytic capacitors.

Can you post a picture of the machine? This will help determine if it's an IGT S-plus or S-2000.

You have an IGT S+ not S-2000

Thank you Erbs. Used the Key 17 and Clear 97 chips on it to get it running. Had a bad CMOS battery. I will post some questions in the correct forum soon (IGT S+).  Having a bit of fun trying to figure all of this out for the 1st time.

Yes I believe so sixcardmark.  I was just going thru the S+ forums and nothing is adding up. Definitely have an S2000 MPU PCB. I will start a post with all the info I have on what I have done so far. I will try to put some pics up too. Get it out of the Welcome forum.

That's probably a pretty rare machine.  First one I have seen without the batwing top speakers.  I heard they existed.

Good luck with your project.

Nice to know about it maybe being rare. I know I can get it working. I want to get it working properly before I do any of my modification.
I also have access to an IGT Triple Triple Diamond 2 coin that I may actually start modifying 1st. Looks like a friend wants to play the Triple Diamond Deluxe for a while.

Triple triple diamond needs to be modified.  Hitting 3 triple triple diamonds is 8M:1 odds.  :banghead:

That's pretty much what I want to do. Make it do anything I can think of. Know of anyone who has done a mod that removes the IGT MPU and put in their own electronics to control the machine? Maybe I should do another post with that question?

Tony. How did you make out with your own MPU for a S2000. Being there is a shortage of 500 series MPU's is there a home brew board available? Thank You! Tim

I would not consider the narrow speaker cabinet all that rare. They are a bit less common but i have had quite a few of them. I usually try to avoid them when possible. Oddly enough every one i have worked on has come off either a cruise ship or casino barge.

Tim, just saw this by accident, didn't get a notice there was a new post. I need to fix that.

I got an Arduino working on an S+ , see this post if you haven't already.

http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=25314.msg133925#msg133925

Haven't got to the S2000. I picked up a bunch of slots quite a while back and was going to fix them up and get rid of them. Got too deep into that and I am still figuring out how I want to finish the ones I have, I need a lot of parts. Long story. Plus I offered to repair power supplies for members and got a little swamped. I know I have some of yours or maybe even got them back to you already. If not soon.

Anyway the S2000 Arduino has been pushed indefinitely. The S+ is still just prototype board with jumpers and I need to do some more tweaks and improvements but it worked.

Give me a call if you want to chat. Thanks again for the printer help on the Bally.
