Multi Denom Question
« on: July 12, 2014, 05:52:39 PM »
Hi Gang,
First post, but have been lurking around a while trying to learn.

I have a question about my first slot. It is a "Double Mystical Mermaid". I believe it is the S-2000 series.

On the reel glass there is a multi denom touchpad offering >25, >50, and $1.00 per credit.
When I punch the .25 and .50 buttons it makes the noise it should, but does not change from a quarter. when I punch $1, it does nothing. No sound or anything. Any ideas what I need to make it work?

There is also no ticket printer. Where do I get one, and will I be able to install it? The hole for it is at the bottom right of the reel glass.

Thanks in advance.

Justin

Justin,
Welcome to the forum.
To get your machine to work on multi denom you will need to get a key chip so you can enter into the key chip areas 7.1.2 and also 7.1.1.3 , 7.1.1.4. You can then set your game up for multi denom.

You will also need a key chip to activate a printer so the investment for a key chip is worth it if you do not have one already.
In order for your machine to use tickets that are printed you will have to also purchase a TITO (ticket in ticket out) system, otherwise whatever you print will not be recognized by your machine.

My best suggestion is to post a WTB in the classified section of this forum and one of the great vendors here should be able to help you with a key chip, TITO and printer.

When you get ready we will need more information with a picture or two of your processor board so we can recommend the correct key chip for your machine.

Justin

This should help you out a lot.  Just follow the instructions on the sheet.  Also has setup for TITO being sold on NLG.

Good Luck

Yes, to be fair.....a TITO device is NOT not needed (nor is factory equipment) to be able to print tickets. Ticket printers print tickets...TITO devices REDEEM the printed tickets.

Sorry guys, but we've yet to buy one, and are doing just fine...just saying, it IS an option...oh yeah, it's the Original Factory option. Fine for those who want to purchase and use it, however, in NO WAY is it required for normal game operation.

I believe my response was clear in saying you need tito to have the machine be able to redeem the tickets.
I wanted Justin to understand that before he spends money on a useless confetti maker. Why else would you want a printer?  :24:
I have not had printers on my machines for years but I recently added TITO and printers. ( sure beats waiting for my hopper to cash out two grand in quarters)To be fair I want the requester to know before he spends money.

Maybe you should try a few you might like them.
It's a matter of personal preference.

Nice Qbert! Glad you like TITO devices, that's great to hear! I was simply trying to inform Justin that TITO devices were in NO WAY NEEDED to get his game operational. While I'm thrilled to hear you recently added TITO and are "thrilled", he, like you can survive "for years" without those devices. Personally, we don't have a need for TITO. We show, we play, we sell....never an issue.

It's all about saving money. In your words a printer is NO WAY NEEDED for the machine to work properly.
Did you read my last line?  It's a matter of personal preference.

Maybe you should try offering it you might sell a few more machines and the ticket sales could be icing on the cake.

Jez, rough day Roz?

You know what....now I see why Blueridge, Buzz, and foxsslots, and countless others have logged off this site....and do not check back in...

Because I dispute a suggestion to a new owner, I get this???? NNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I do not believe that every slot owner needs to have the latest and greatest, the most fast and furious, etc!!! Just owning a slot machine is fun, pure fun!!! It is not always a about tricking it out with everything possible! Sometimes, we just want a god*^#^#%ed machine to operate as it should without the owner needing to be an Electrical Engineer!! Sometimes, people just want to buy a slot machine and ask a question...wow...I know that may be a foreign concept!!!

And it is NOT about saving money qbert, but I like how you are implying we are too cheap to install TITO, that's great! Truth is, slot machines are for fun in 99% of our members settings. You can not tell me that cashless, coin less transactions and tickets printing out (woohoo) are more "fun", than change/money dropping from the hopper.

And yeah, had a real shitty day, only sold 4 machines, We were hoping for the usual 6.

Roz slow down and read all of the posts again.

I am not saying everbody needs the latest and greatest slot hardware, far from it. This all started with a brand new slot owner asking about a printer. When I was a new slot owner I had no idea that if a machine printed a ticket I could not use it back in the machine. Next thing you know I had a stack of useless printers that I spent money on only to find out I had to purchase additional crap (TITO) to make it work as my mind thought it would.(that thought being I would be able to put it back in the machine for credit)
So yes it's all about making sure new users don't waste hard earned cash for something they probably don't need or will ever use.

Where your spinning off about what I'm implying about being too cheap to offer products? WTF are you talking about? I am in no way endorsing one way or the other. IF I OFFENDED YOU I APPOLOGIZE. (although I think you were giving mrfreeze grief on this site tonight also on another subject) attitude check maybe?? Plus I figured without Buzz to give you grief your head may swell too big. (Joke Roz)

Lastly Justin I'm sorry we rudely hijacked your legitmate questions about your machine and please disregard our foolish ranting on your topic. Please feel free to post your questions and we will try to do our best to answer them.

That is a lot of good information gang. Thank you all.

With that info, I have a couple more questions.

1. I already see this is going to get out of hand like my pinball collection, so if I have more than one machine with the TITO feature, will the tickets be able to come out of one machine then be used in another? Should they all be the same brand, etc?

2. In regards to the Multi-Denom feature, it seems the pigtail is there. The screen lights up and beeps when you touch the different amounts, the machine just will not change from a quarter per play. (I am not arguing or promising that it is there, just that there is nothing visibly missing)

3. This "key chip" and stuff I need to get will require me to be "contributing member" in order to post in the WTB section, right?
I have already learned a bunch from you and I would like to donate to the site. I'm not seeing how to do it. Help please.

Thank you all again for the welcome and the great advice. I'll be hanging out here a lot!

Best,
Justin

To answer your questions
If you have 5 machines with TITO any tickets printed will work in any other game you have, or your neighbors or whatever. They will NOT and don't try, work at a casino.
As stated above you need to look at your player denom and touch pad button assignments in key chip menu 7. You can checkthem, but not change them without a kkey chip

Answers to your questions:
1. Yes this is going to get out of hand like my coin op video game collection from the 80s. Slot addiction has actually worse so be prepaired. The nice thing about TITO is yes if they are from the same vendor you can print from one machine and cash in on another just like if you were in a real casino.

2. Yes it sounds like your machine is capable for multi denom but it must be enabled in the key section 7. Change access into section 7 menu requires a key chip. Look at this post to understand how to navigate in the menu interface section. (note if you do not see attachments in this post you must be a contributing member see answer to #3) http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=322.0
Without a key chip you can view section 7 but can not change it. Look in section 7.1.1.3 and see if you have more than one denom enabled.

3. The information on this site is well worth the price of admission!!! As your addiction to slots grows this site's information will be invaluable here is a link. http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?action=profile;area=subscriptions

Attach a  picture of your MPU board so we can recommend the correct key chip etc.

Thanks!

I am not sure where the MPU board is. Could you let me know about where it is please?

I got my Contributing Member thing all setup.

I guess I need to find a person or vendor that has the stuff I will likely need so when I buy more mchines, the TITO will work.

Thanks

O.K.,
I looked at menu 7.x.x.x and it says the only denom assigned is a quarter. It looks like 3 of the 4 buttons are assigned to a quarter and the fourth button is not assigned at all.
A key chip will be most helpful.

Thanks!

First and most important yes I'm yelling
DO NOT UNPLUG OR REMOVE ANYTHING FROM INSIDE YOUR MACHINE WITHOUT HAVING THE POWER TURNED OFF!

Severe damage to electronics can occur if you do this

That being said ensure your machine is turned off. With the front door open look under the reels on the left side you will see a metal case with some sort of handle. If the handle is just part of the tray (IE bent part of tray's sheet metal) you have a 500 series board. If the handle is attahed to the tray and swings on a hinge you have an enhanced board 1270 with a legacy adaptor.

Carefully pull the tray out and snap a few pictures of the board and post here.
We can then help with key chip requirements and also suggest some other prudent maintanence items like removing the green battery if it is a 500 series board.

Look through the site now that you have full access, I'm sure you will find many helpful items.

O.K., Machine powered off. Board is the kind with the "L" shaped handle.
I cannot get it out all the way. The coin tray at the bottom of the machine (where the coins would fall if you cashed out machine) is in the way. It looks like it can me released and swung down. I just cannot figure out how to release it.

Thanks.

Lift up then pull out on the coin tray and it will come off. On the other hand, just order a 45 key and 224 clear and you'll be alright. You won't need the clear chip for what you need to do unless you want the accounting denom lower so that you can have a player denom of less than the current 25 cents. Be cause most machines don't deal in fractions of a penny the lowest possible player denom can't be lower than the accounting denom setting. If your lowest desired player denom will be 25 cents then a key chip is all you need for the changes you need to make. Ask for usage instructions with your order or come back here and start a new thread with your programming questions.
