Requesting a step by step video for bypassing optics on IGTS2000
« on: November 19, 2019, 02:14:41 PM »
Does anyone out there have a how-to video for bypassing the door optics on an IGTS2000? I feel that I could easily perform this modification if it were on Youtube. However, I've looked everywhere and a video like this does not exist. Can anyone out there help me? I've got a problematic machine that desperately needs this modification. :banghead:

We can help you get it back up and running the way you want!
Bypassing door optics is easy....I even made a real nice drawing once!
However, that doesn't fix your machine.

NOTE:  the issue with my machine is that it will not clear a Door Open M error code. 3 MPU boards have been tried so we know its not that.

I really appreciate the reply. I've seen a bunch of posts about this topic, my main concern is cutting the wrong connection or not being able to determine what should be connected to what. If I had a video it would definitely help with concerns like the ones I'm having. I'm new to slots however, so far I have replaced the button bulbs with LEDS, replaced the fluorescent ones with LEDS's, installed locks, installed a new knife hopper, replaced the sound board, installed a new fan and other remedial tasks. The bypassing of the optic sensor concerns me that I could mess up my machine.

I've seen numerous pics from others who have done this modification but its easy to lose sight of what specifically is happening in the picture with all the wiring. I just don't want to damage my machine to the point where its unplayable. Also, where would be the best place to buy the necessary wiring to make a new harness/extension?

Thanks again,

Mike

Open the belly door.

Look inside underneath towards the top left of the deck.

There should be a cherry switch there with two wires attached to it.

Cut the the wires off, strip the ends a half inch, twist them together and tape them up with electrical tape.

Close the belly door , play one game and the message should go away.

That easy.  :rotfl:

So the Door Open M error is related to the belly glass door and not the main door?

The door optic circuit is a loop of switches, that when the loop is open the door optics will not work and you will get the error message.  there are three items that have to closed in order for the loop to be complete.

the main door has to be closed, (optics aligned with each other),  cash can switch has to be bypassed (closed), and the belly door switch has to be bypassed (closed),  this should complete the loop, now if you board is putting out the proper signal then the cpu should see the signal and the machine should initialize.

if you can get into the machine diagnostics, (press the test button on the cpu board) go to test #4,  input test, processor test, first test is the light pen scroll to the main door, close the door and put down the latch, you should see a 0 and a 1 alternating,  this is the proper condition if the door optic circuit is working, if it stays solid on one of the digits then the circuit is not working.

Hope this helps
Jim

How exactly do I access the back of the switch? I've looked and don't see how to detach it from its current position. I see one connection to the back of it but can't see another one.

Take the two nuts off the switch, remove the 2 wires from the switch, strip them, twist together and tape up with electrical tape.

Actually, it's looks like your game is ready to play? (66 credits with a dot. The dot means door was opened but no game has been played.)
The VFD message [Door Open M] should go away after playing one game.
It won't play a couple of credits if you hit the Max button?

The belly cherry switch hasn't been removed yet. The machine sits in this state and nothing happens. The video is showing exactly what the machine is currently doing (no response from it) along with the error code, it just sits in this current state indefinitely.

It will stay in this state until you try to play a game.
Can you play a game or no?

If not, then you need to try to make a harness to the cherry switch from the door optics as in the instructions Foster made.

Have you tried Jim's suggestion of the diagnostics in Reply #5?

No, it will not allow me to play a game. No buttons will illuminate and it just gets "stuck" in this state.

I have not tried the diagnostics yet. Truthfully, I'm not confident in my ability to navigate through it yet.

Have you tried simply adjusting the optics?
Was this machine working and when did it stop?
As most here know I'm not a big fan of optics bypass.
Most of the time adjustment of optics or door closures are the issues. Maybe an optic goes bad sometimes and needs to be replaced. I have over 10 S2000s and Reel Touch machines, not one has ever been bypassed.
Just my two cents.

I will sell you a plug n play bypass harness similar to the one pictured. No cutting of any of your wiring needed or required. If the machine still doesn't recognize the door closed then you probably have a bad MPU due to acid damage from the Varta battery (BT2). A bad mother board is also a possibility but far less likely. PM me if interested.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

This machine has been problematic since purchasing it. It has worked on occasion (its mostly been turned off) because of this nuisance error. I haven't "adjusted" the optics, just mostly ensured that they were lined up (eyeballed). I'm no slot tech so most of this technical stuff is new to me however, I've worked in a casino and opened thousands of machines during my tenure. I can recognize what closed looks like on the belly and body doors and past that I'd only be guessing about the optics.

Alignment is a simple task.
Place a piece of masking tape on the outside of the door where the optics are on both sides. Open the door slide the handle to the closed position and mark where the optics are located on the door. Then close the door handle down extend the line on the masking tape to the cabinet side open the door move the cabinet optics to the line you drew.

A sincere thanks to everyone who replied to this topic. I went the route of purchasing a wiring harness and the machine seems to be working properly.  :cool_thumb_up:
