S2000 fried door i/o

I’m stumped. Triple Double 3x 2x has too small of an EPROM sitting in U17. Machine worked perfectly until I removed that EPROM and all others to test another machine. I’m not sure where the pins should be. Seemed to be best in the picture I posted. However after clearing and keying the Door I/O board fried. The smell is awful. Recommendations greatly appreciated

 Not sure why your door I/O fried, but your S+ SS chip is installed correctly, and wouldn't have caused the door I/O to smoke even if it wasn't.

Should I try another I/O board?

I would.  You know it's bad, but don't know why it smoked. If the replacement smokes too then you know you have other problems that will need to be corrected.  Luckily I/O boards are readily available and fairly cheap if it does happen.

Ok so I swapped Door I/O and the Mpu. Now I have Door open M coin in Jam?  What do I try next?

Try the other MPU board and see if it works.

Is the I/O the same # as the one you removed? 802 I/O will cause that in a 5-5-2 machine with standard 5 button deck. You need a 801.

I pulled an 801 I/O out and replaced it with an 801?  I moved the known 502 mpu, both I/O boards back to a working machine and everything works properly. I also swapped out the coin in bypass. I’m really confused. What am I missing?

I did not swap out U45 or U18. Is that a possibility?

I’m going to back peddle a bit here. I’m positive I seen the S plus EPROM spark when I mistakenly put the legs in the wrong position. Would that possibly create my coin in jam?

I replaced the door I/O board and the Mpu and still have a coin in jam.  I don’t know what I should try next?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
