The 1st Time

Remember the 1st time you opened the door and looked into a slot machine?
First one I opened was an 1989 S+ Upright.
In my mind, I went "Wow!" 
Then I rubbed my hands together! I was like..."Yay!"

First was a Bally Electromechanical slot.  I went "WTF!!! all those wires!!!!"

A few years later, I got a pair of S+ and pinched myself that I had a "modern" slot machine in my house.  LOL!

Yeah! No more "cat gut" wires! Lol

First machine I bought was a Bally EM Money Honey. Seller said it worked but the hopper just needed to be cleaned and adjusted.. Yea right, dang thing paid out 18 coins every time you pulled the handle. Didn’t matter what the reels sale... Took me forever to find a pinched wire between the hoppers beau plug and mounting bracket. Still have that machine to this day, and it plays and pays perfect! I was hooked after fixing it.

I remember my first time....


Bought a Bally S6000  Bonus Frenzy from a local friend who collects antique machines. This one no longer fit his decor, so he offered it to me. I was stoked!


The day I picked it up he gave me the nickel tour of the machine and explained what was what inside of it. Showed me how to remove the hopper and cash can, and then reinstall everything so it works.


When I asked him about the mystery tray mounted beneath the reel shelf, his reply was "There's nothing in there that you need to be concerned with, so don't touch it." LOL


Still a great playing machine and I think I still haven't ever removed the MPU from that one.

These are all great stories! I remember one of my friend’s showing me their IGT 1986 Series M slot machine and I was like “WOOOOOOOW!” because I didn’t realize just how complex a slot machine was. I also saw the inside of an IGT s2000 when I peaked into a casino window and a tech was re-filling the hopper. Both times were like Christmas morning to my eyes lol.


Turns out my friend didn’t want the IGT Series M and they gave it to me to make room for another pinball machine

Well my first was a Bally EM. It just kept working.

So I'm going to lie and tell the story of my second slot as if it was my first. Shhhhhh.

My first "modern" slot was an s plus Double Diamond. I think I paid $200 for it and it was in great shape. In fact, I still have it, but now it's a 2 coin Wild Cherry. The generic DD theme was so damn boring to me. 
I bought it without seeing it plugged in and operational. I don't remember why though, but the seller was HUGE and he just bear-hugged the thing and put it in my car.
When I got it home I remember the first time I plugged it in, and peeked inside. This one had a hopper and DBV200 (still does). I flipped on the switch and watched it come alive.
HEARING that "deee doodle doodle deee, doodle doodle deee" sound of the reels spinning was so exiting. It was as if I bought Las Vegas, the city... the entire place was mine!
Then, the irony the brought me to NLG...
On the third time I played, I hit THREE double diamonds, the big one!  So, like a moron, I pressed CASH OUT.  There's only a handful of quarters in the hopper that I had just put in.
I didn't know what to do other than hand feed the quarters back in the hopper and that's when I first went on the site and leaned how to resolve the situation.

I'm surprised it didn't go to handpay since it was the top prize?  I thought all S+ would handpay on top award even if it didn't amount to $1,200 cash.  My sizzling 7's goes into handpay when I hit the top amount, even if it is under $1,000.00.  I even hit the thing with a mikohn controller showing 1,100.  Of course the machine has no clue how much money the progressive controller has.  But it worked correctly, handpay, turn reset key and the progressive reset to 1,000 as programmed.  It was a "WOW it worked!" moment.  LOL.

Funny I experienced that "wow it worked" moment when I programmed my IGT/Barcrest Top Dollar to spit pay! It spit out 120 big 'ol dollars and then printed out a ticket for the remainder.

And for my S plus... if I remember correctly I just put in one quarter.
