Hi, Im brand new to owning slot machines and i purchased two machines on ebay a week ago, the Pharaohs fortune machine loads for a few sec monitor starts getting lines, then turns blue then turns off. Tapping and wiggling the monitor effects this, the company i purchased it from has ignored my emails so far. :(

It has done it since i've received it but i could normally turn it off and on a few times or pull the monitor and have been able to get it to work, once it works it seems to run just fine until i power it down overnight, then i struggle to get it to run again. Today i am unable to get it to load past the initialize screens then turns off while its still loading.

Id really hate to file a return with ebay as i do enjoy playing it.

1.Does anyone have any suggestions to look at while im waiting on a response?
2. is this a igt i-plus cabinet? Thats what the listing is showing it.
3. lets say the crt is bad what does it take to upgrade to lcd?
4. can i load other games in this cabinet such as game king (there's a version that has something like 14 slots and several poker games) Can i swap back in forth in the menu or does it require disassembling the pcb?
5. What do i need to change the protected features such as payout rate? Im understanding theirs two seperate chips i need?

thanks for helping with my newbie questions.  john

The monitor probably needs to be recapped.  The electrolytic capacitors go dry over time.  If you leave it on for a bit even though the screen turns off, the caps are still get power. Eventually they are able to hold enough power to keep the monitor up and running.  But it gets worse over time until it won't power up at all.  Replacing it with an LCD is basically a plug and play operation.  There are LCD monitor assemblies that are made specifically for that cabinet type (i-Game+ 17" cabinet).  Depending on availability they run from a couple hundred bucks used to $600-$700 new.  Just make sure it has the same plug as yours as there are 19 pin and 25 pin plugs.  Yours probably has the 19 plug version, you can just look and count the pins if you remove your monitor.

Here's a new one from spininc on ebay.

the rest of your questions...

The games are stored on a matched set of eproms and simms.  You have to replace all eproms and simms to change to a new game.  You cannot combine games, so once you take a game out, it can no longer be played.  You pull out the MPU tray and replace the necessary parts.  Gameking is one such set.  5.0 works with your platform, has a bunch of poker games, blackjack, keno, and a few slots like you mentioned.  To change paytable returns, you need a key 22 setchip.

You can also upgrade your cabinet to gameking enhanced games (that's what IGT calls it, we usually refer to them here as the 044 platform).  It involves changing the backplane and the MPU board.  Then the software comes in a board that contains the games.  The 044 games and gameking versions are much better than what you would get on what you have, which is probably 3902 (iGame+ as IGT calls it).  Most people here upgrade to an 044 setup and then buy a Superstars Poker board which has a huge variety of poker games, keno, blackjack and full versions of the popular slots Wolf Run and Coyote Moon.

Thanks rickhunter i was able to get the monitor working by sliding in the tray all the way... apparently when i pulled it out so it touched the door it (pulled on the cable) or somthing like that because it would not run at all when it was in the proper position. Ill look at upgrading to a lcd sometime in the future...

is there a sponsor that sells the key 22 setchip or does nfg sell that stuff? or just head to ebay?

i also have a 12 times pay 3 reel machine would it use the same key22 setchip or a different one?

once i upgrade to a 044 can i still install pharaohs fortune or would it be only compatible with game king.

thanks for the help, definitely gave me a place to start my research.

For the S2000 you need key17 if you have a 500 series board, key45 if you have an enhanced board, or an RKB0001 or RKB0002 if you have an enhanced board with a flash board.

You can still use your Pharaoh's Fortune set with an 044 mpu, you will need to obtain a legacy daughter card, which essentially lets you install your eproms and simms into it and then goes in the same spot as a flash board does.

There are also quite a lot of 044 slot games as well. 044 games are a bit more expensive than 3902 games though.

I don't think there's a bell connector for video slots, only steppers.
