Adjust volume level on IGT S+ machine
« on: May 25, 2020, 12:51:15 AM »
The volume level on an IGT S machine and on IGT S+ machines equipped with a 10MHz MPU board (most commonly found board in an S+ machine) can be adjusted with the use of the small blue potentiometer dial on the edge of the MPU tray.  As seen in the attached picture, the dial extends just outside of the MPU board enclosure to allow you to make adjustments to it while the MPU board is in place.  It sometimes helps to gently rotate this dial back and forth a number of times to help clean off any oxidation that has built up on the potentiometer contacts.

On IGT S+ machines with a 16MHz MPU board, you must use the menu system to adjust the volume level as there is no physical dial to adjust on the board.  Settings may vary by SP chip -- it is advised to reference the Program Summary Report (PSR) for your SP chip to find the correct option number.

For SP1192, for an example of a 16MHz SP chip, the volume level is controlled by page zero option 3, with adjustments from 1 (loudest) to 9 (quietest).  To access the setting, open the door, press self-test button twice, then turn the jackpot reset keyswitch once - you should see 0 in the Coins Played display, and 3 in the Winner Paid display.  The number in the Credits display should be blinking, and is changed by pressing the Spin Reels button as many times as necessary to adjust from 1 to 9.  Press the Self Test button multiple times to step through the remaining setup menus until the machine "pauses", then close the door to return to gameplay mode.
