Multiple Processor & Flash Boards

When having multiple Processor Trays, can you essentially "match" them to the 24FC256 chip on the Motherboard (Backplane)?  Meaning do a Keychip and then the  installed 24FC256 is set to that board.  I'm guessing you can easily swap Processor Trays, but will need to pull and install the 24FC256 that "matches" the tray you want to play next without having to do another Keychip.  I believe this is true, but wanted to ask the experts here for a definite answer.

This is correct but check your motherboard. Not all of them have socketed eeproms. Some are soldered in.

Thank you. The motherboards I own are plug-in, not soldered.  BTW, got that board today!

if your working with 3902 boards and are good with a soldering iron, might check out tilts post http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=251.0 .  i did it to all my 3902's(8 of them) makes changing games really simple.

I had stumbled across that post a few years ago when my machine first started out as a 3902.  I never took the board to work to modify it on my bench there.  I wonder if the same mod can be done to my 044 boards.  Maybe it's U86 socket?  I just don't have the actually schematics for the 044 Processor board.

No easy way of adding an EEPROM to the 044 board, wish there was.
