IGT Barcrest Top Dollar
« on: September 05, 2014, 07:13:02 PM »
Hello,

With the help of the forum I was able to fix the code 12 on the machine. When I took the battery off the board it measured almost 0. It is a 16 mhz board. I put in new battery 3.6 volts. I installed board, hopper and turned in on. I had 61 2, I held reset button 2 seconds 61 1. The closed door turned key now 61. At first it went back to 61 1 now it just blinks and goes back to 16. Any ideas?

I attached pictures. If you need other pictures I can take more.

Thanks for your help in advance.

This rubber was in the corner near the on/off switch and it fell down. I do not know how to attach it. Any ideas?

So now, when you have the 61 (not 16 like your original post said, but no worries), open the door and press button 2-3 seconds and see if it flips to 61-1. Then at 61-1, close door completely and turn JP key once.

What happens when you follow the above instructions?

The coin displays 0 the 61 goes away and then 61 comes back. Do you want to see a video? I never get the 61 1

Ok, if the 61 won't change, then we have to dig a little deeper. I've seen games that took up to 5-7 seconds to change to a 61-1, so MAKE SURE you are holding that button for awhile. Hold it for 15 seconds to be sure!

And lets see what knagl, our resident S+ EXPERT, has to say on this one. It is kinda similar to the 61 loop weve seen so much (61 to 61-1, then back to 61 then 61-1) but this is a little different in the fact it won't switch to 61-1. Hopefully, it is something simple and can be solved without a Clear.

Held it for 15 seconds after the 61 then blank the 0 in coin the goes out then 61 stays on. The yellow wire that went to the coin comparitor  had broken off I thought that was it. I repaired it and still the same.

 :I_agree_1:

Agreed with this.

MrBrown: You keep saying that the machine is giving you a message of "16".  Do you mean "61" in the Winner Paid window, as shown in your first picture?

If you have a clear chip, I guess I wouldn't be too afraid to use it at this point -- I'm guessing there's something amuck with the EEPROM if the 61 isn't changing to a 61-1.

Sorry it is a 61. Only one time did it go 61 -2, 61 1 then back to 61. How do I use the clear as I hear I have read I have to re-program it.

I ran the clear then the set and it worked! I hit 3 bars with the hopper empty and got error code  3300 then 5. I opened and close the door and it will not reset. I had to feed it tokens till it gave back what I won. Is that normal?

Now I tried to put a bill and it did not take it. The person I got the machine gave me a BV. But said that the one in the machine was good and the coin comparator did not work but it does.

3300 is perfectly normal, it is an EMPTY HOPPER. Keep 20-30 (at least) coins/tokens in the hopper. The hopper will not always dispense the very last coins, as the hoppers are gravity fed (meaning the big pile of coins is what keeps it happy).

Whenever you win, the machine MUST pay out that win BEFORE it will function again. There is no magic switch that let's you just go on playing. Remember this when someone hits Cash Out with 200-300 credits on it!

Sounds like you cannot trust the previous owners knowledge, don't worry about that, it is 100% common. If he had known what was wrong with it for sure, he would have fixed it and got mo $$$ for the machine.

If you ran a clear chip, which it sounds like you did, the bill validator will not work again until you re-enable it with a SET chip.  That process is explained here, although the SP chip in your machine will determine what SET chip you need to use.  (Note, however, that sometimes alternate SET chips will work even if not specified in the Program Summary Report (PSR) for your SP chip).

As far as the rubber piece, the picture isn't spectacular and I can't really tell what it is.  Do you see any other of those pieces in your machine that might give you a hint as to where it belongs?

It looks like the rubber that is behind the rubber seal on the left side top of the bottom door.

Aah, good job.

Is this topic solved, or do you still need more help getting your bill validator re-enabled?

I turned it into tokens so the BV is not an issue. Is there a way to make the slots odds better to make the machine more fun? It runs like a casino machine and does not pay out.

You would need to replace the "SS" eprom to get better odds.  But honestly, these machines are very volatile, and you would hardly notice the difference as the changes are mainly in the low to mid payouts and only increase very little at that.  You would have to change to a different theme, but these barcrests because of their bonus capability, are necessarily highly volatile machines to begin with.  If you want a machine that pays more often, you will need to go to a multi-line game.  The whole point of the 5 reel 180 coin max games is that there are small pays in almost every spin, but you bet 180 and you might win say 15 coins, so the spin is still a loosing spin, but you get the ding ding ding from the small payout giving you a false sense of winning.  Slot machines are evil in this way, but remember someone has to pay for the fancy casinos.  :arrowthruhead:

GREAT point! But why are some casinos in Atlantic City closing? You'd think they would make a fortune on the slots.  :money: :Scratch-Head: :hijacked2:
