Identifying an IGT slot machine
« on: March 16, 2015, 04:13:46 PM »
i have acquired an inoperative slot machine that appears to be an IGT.  Before I ask a lot of troubleshooting questions, I wanted to identify what I have and if ay of the manuals I have acquired from the good membes of this forum will help me.
The data tags are as follows:
Inside cabinet - ainsworth Consolidated Industries CW7154. Also on the floor of the reel support area is a tag IGT SN 12951, Model R50C1, Description-Aristocrat, date mfg-4/83. There is another identigal tag on the outside on the right hand side of the cabinet. Also on the inside stamped into the metal supporting the reel mechanism is "Ainsworth Atlas".
Anothe tag just above the IGT tag on the outside right side is a tag Ainsworth SN CW 7046, volts 110, Hertz 60, Amps 3, date 3/2/83.

I have the following manuals in electronic files:
Liesure Time Slots Owners Manual for IGT Slot Machines covering S-Plus, S-2000, Vision and Reel Touch.
IGT M Slot Manual
esprit Manual
Esprit Drawings
Esprit Wiring
Aristocrat Microstar MK 2.5 Stepper Service and Parts Manual marked SP791MK2.5S

I apologize for no photo at the moment. This is a three-reel machine that accepts one to five coins. There are no bill acceptors or ticket readers, just one coin slot. No automatic or variable betting mechanisms, just the coin slot. It looks very much the same as the machine in the Esprit Drawings. If you need a picture I will endeavor to post one soonest.
Thank you in advance for any help in identifying this machine and the applicable manuals.

I believe Ainsworth is an Australian slot machine gaming company that produces slot machine game cabinets ready for other companies to install their gambling software into. They also produce game machines that are complete with software and ready to set on the casino floor. It looks like they sometimes enter into partnership or contract with other companies (like IGT) to make the slot machine hardware for them and then IGT (or whoever) installs the gaming software and markets the machine as their own.

In the early 1980's Ainsworth (Aristocrat) did not have a license to sell slots in the U.S.
IGT was in the video market and did not have reel slot to sell. So IGT made a deal with Ainsworth to sell their slots with an IGT tag on them.

Your machine should be all Ainsworth.

without seeing the pictures I will bet its a Esprit machine.  Red cabinet, two boards in a card cage usually located in the bottom section next to the hopper, (have seen them in the top box) has 3/4 plug in cables going to it, there is a small door that lift's up above the reel assembly, the power supply and meters are located here.

check all the fuses in the  power supply, any numbers in the displays??  I don't know anywhere you could get parts for that machine, or who would work on the boards. The i/o card would have the PIA's go out on them alot, last time I worked on one of those was about 18 years ago.

I think the only thing I have left of those type machines is a picture.

Thank you all for your responses. Sorry, but have not had a chance to take any pictures yet. However, the machine fits the description Jim provided. I was leaning in that direction, too. Funny, Esprit appears nowhere on the machine. Anyway, I will get some pics posted in the next day or two and we will know for sure. I have fiddled with it a little; replaced #2 fuse and checked the plugs, but I want to give it a thorough going over before I start asking for help. I am concerned that right now all I have is power to the flouresent lamps and the coolong fan, so I hope it's a bad connection or fuse, and not a fried PCB or CPU. When I turn on power with the reset button held down, none of the things described in the manuals happen, just the lighta and fan. But, I could be overlooking something obvious to a more experienced person.

I will attempt to post some pictures. Everything seems consistant with what he and others have said.

Hi Goober,
I was wondering if I could purchase a copy of your Aristocrat 2.5 stepper service manual as I have one I am trying to fix after someone had plugged door optic cable onto wrong plug.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Lucky Phil. I would be glad to send you the electronic file. Somebody needs to talk me through how to do it. I guess I could attach it to a private email if you send me your email address.

Hey Lucky Phil, I am going to try to attach the file for the manual to this post so it's out there for anybody that needs it. Well that didn't work. Can somebody tell me how to post a file?
