Ways to test an S+ Motherboard??

I have a board that I have determined to be bad (swapped good board in and Processor board received power and machine started to function).  Ive seen these boards are upwards of $95 and was wondering if there is a good procedure for testing/cleaning the components before I give up and buy one.

Dealing with this issue quite a few times it is good to have a spare
Board to determine if it is the issue
There is a 8 pin chip that does go bad on them that can be replaced but others here may have more knowledge on how to to fix
