Model 962 Side Key Switch
« on: July 31, 2020, 06:37:27 PM »
I have another thread describing pay issues with the hopper.  Although these are even more unrelated, I have to ask a questions on the mysterious key switch on the right side of the cabinet.  I have learned that after one coin, the insert coin light goes out, and the coin accepted light comes on.  THe machine then rejects any  more coins.  It de energizes the coil behind the coin rejection module.  I cant get it to accept more than 1 coin.  Now if I manually trigger the coin switch it will take all 3 and pay correctly.
But I traced this yellow/red wire over to the side of the cabinet.  I have a small reed switch and if I turn the key and close it, it allows 3 coins.  SO odd.  What is this switch meant to do?  And you cant lock it in that position and remove the key.  Its only momentary.
Help with this odd side key switch!
ThanksE

it's the jackpot release switch.

one switch on it will power the coin lockout coil behind the mech to allow coins to be accepted.

the 862 is the lowboy version of the 831.  I don't have any schematics for an 862, but a few for 831 variants.

I'd guess your problem is an "open at 2nd step" switch on the line unit.  It's opening early or all the time.  Has wire 25-1 and 56-3 on it, and is probably a switch that opens by a pin poking out of the side of the white plastic ratchet.

the coin lockout coil can be powered by both the line unit switch or a coin relay switch, but after the first coin the coin relay switch is open, so you need to line unit switch to be closed to accept the next two coins.

I did find those wires, and they are closed normally, then once the first coin is inserted they open, and stay open for the next coin.

that's your problem.  The switch should only open when the unit is at the top step ... which in this case is the 2nd step up from reset (when the 3rd coin light is on).

adjust the switch and you should be ok.
