Replacing Edge Lit Buttons

Is there any real trick to replacing edge lit buttons on a g23 upright.  I thought I would ask before in dive in and break something.

Carefully remove the ribbon cable from the back (you may need to remove it from several buttons to get access to the plastic circular screw that holds the button to the player panel.  Some buttons may have a splash protector that protects the electronics from liquids.  Remove the large plastic nut and remove button from panel paying attention to the orientation of the button connector.  Insert new button making sure the connector orientation is the same as the one removed.  Secure with plastic nut and reconnect ribbon cable.

To add to Ricks post, be sure to squeeze the 2 little tabs, on the button itself, holding the ribbon socket to the button as you gently pull up and remove the ribbon from the switch. The ribbons are VERY delicate, so treat them with kid gloves. Do not fold or bend the ribbon or you will destroy it.

Just take your time.  :cool_thumb_up:


Another tip that may help is to take photos of the control panel with your phone BEFORE you start work. That way you can look at your photos just in case you forget how something went back together or how it was routed ,etc.
