I have lurked here a number of times in the past but since it seems imminent that I will be purchasing a couple of Bally EM machines tomorrow, I figured I'd get the jump on it and get joined.  This site really seems like the place to be.


My background - big coin-op fan from way back having owned a number of pinball, arcade and slot machines over the years.  I say I am a "fan" but I am no tech.  I'm that guy who can replace an obvious defective part, bad wiring, fuses and bulbs, but other than that, my diagnostic skills stink.


Assuming I do buy these two machines tomorrow, these will be the first EM slots I've ever had and I've been looking for a decent one for awhile.  Seems like they were everywhere a few years ago and now, when I renewed my search a couple years ago, the people who had them wanted more than I was willing to spend.  But...I spotted these and they were very reasonably priced and according to the current owners, in "excellent condition and refurbished".  No telling what their definition of "refurbished" is, but I will find out tomorrow.


Anyway, thanks to the mods and staff for the registration.  I look forward to checking out what all the site has to offer and meeting some of you out there.

Welcome to the forum.
First, for transporting - if you have to lay the machines flat, make sure the hoppers are removed. Otherwise you may get any remaining coins stuck or wedged in places you DON'T want them to be. For me, it's easier to remove both the hopper and reel bundle mechanisms just to lighten up the machines. Both pull out easily.
When you get them home, throughly inspect behind the hoppers for any stray coins that may have already been there before the move.
You should be able to plug them in and "go" if they are supposedly working. If they sat awhile, you may have to do cycle (play) the machines a few times to clean up contacts.
Ask the seller what he did to "refurbish" them.
Finally, if you have issues with the machines, post the problem in the Bally EM section. And post separately for each machine.
