My must list for converting the BB3 for home use.
« on: March 27, 2024, 10:18:14 AM »
Hello,

Below is a list that has made my machine more enjoyable to play at home.  These machines are not meant for home entertainment purposes, but with a little help, the BB3 can be converted for our in-home entertainment.

1. Buy a good surge suppressor. Don't cheap out on this, as it will save your BB3 when spikes happen. - Thanks SixCardMark :)

2. Buy a clear card before you get the machine. Or ask the seller if they are providing a clear card with the machine.  These cards are
available on ebay or from the marketplace on this forum.

3. Relocate power switch:  Opening the door to turn the power on and off sucks.  For the price of a double pole switch and a little wire, I
relocated the switch to the lock hole under the key. The switch is mounted so that the down position is on.  So if I turn the key the
switch doesn't get turned off accidentally.

4. Columbia JUR Chip:  Unlimited Payouts and it quiets the hard counters.  (Update) - The Columbia JUR chip allows setting hard counters
for certain games  ( Willy Wonka, Illinois Game Chest, Game Chest 14).  It does not work for setting the counter on Super Team. I am
not sure about others that I do not own.

5. Build Molex Resister Hard meter bypass.  No more clicking.  The instructions are here:

https://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=2965.msg225982#msg225982

6. Tito device:  The device I bought allows me to change the Free play to any credits I can dream of.  With the Columbia JUR chip, you can
configure your BB3 in so many different ways for your enjoyment.

7.  A good stand and chair.  I found a great adjustable stand that will support 1000 pounds from Uline for $100 and an adjustable casino
     chair from Amazon $60

8.  At least 1 Chest game and 1 game that has a lot of bonuses.  The chess games allow you to try different games but lack fun bonuses.
Bonus games like Willy Wonka and Super Team keep me interested longer.   ( I am always looking for cool bonus games. Post if
you have any more you would like to add. ).

9. Last but not least.  Become a contributing member of this forum.  Many of the answers to your questions will be in the download
    section.

10. Upgraded RAM to 8 Gigs.  Didn't seem like much of a difference but load times seem to be faster.

Next project(s).

Quieter fans in the cabinet
Replace both monitors with new replacements.
Replace faded Oled buttons.

These are the things that have enhanced my time with the BB3.  Please add on to this thread for your own setups :)

2nd #1: Just get a good surge strip and use it to turn machine on and off and protect it at the same time.

Oh yeah you are 100% correct, a surge protector is a must on all electronic equipment.    I was using the surge switch also, but I wanted a direct switch to the power supply.  I completely dumped the metal cover holding the old switch.  I could just see that cutting wires by taking it off and putting it on all the time while messing around in the cabinet.
