Trouble with MEI Bill Validator in Alpha
« on: May 25, 2020, 07:06:21 AM »
Have an older Bally Alpha that came in parts complete, but missing parts, of course.

Trying to get the MARS MEI BV to work but it won't take.

I've tried known good components from other machines to include Heads, Interface Cards and Cash Cans.

Still shows errors.

Was missing adapter harness when I received it and Rick hooked me up with that, but I still feel I'm missing something.

The cherry switch on the back of the housing has nothing gconnected to it and I've got two loose terminal ends that I don't know where to hook up. I jumped them, but nothing changed. In addition to the 2 cabinet wires, I have the 3 bare terminals from the BV as well.

See attached photos of wiring and errors.

I'm purchasing the correct clear card for this OS, so maybe after a new set up it will come together. In the meantime, take a look and see if I missed something.

Thank you,

You are getting a bill validator com error.  The other errors won't clear until it communicates.  The rear stacker switch is not used on my Alphas with MEI's.  At this point I would try replacing backplane if the harness going to the backplane is not having issues.  I've had that happen to me one time, where the validator wouldn't work, replacing the backplane fixed the issue.

Closing out another open post.

Sorry.

Problem is solved, had some loose wiring, traced everything to where it's supposed to go. All good.
