What do you know about my machine?
« on: April 04, 2016, 05:31:48 AM »
Just got a Triple Double Stars S2000 machine.

Overall the machine is really nice with very bright clean glass.  The 3 reels are a little faded.

Although I think I've seen a bunch of these machines in Vegas, is it a common machine?  Or should I be asking if it's a common "theme"?  I'm new but it looks like I can buy new glass/reels/ and a chip??  and change the theme of my machine?  Is it a less common theme??

I ask this because I can't seem to be able to find new reel strips for it. Closest I found had fruits on it and mine does not.

I've also noticed almost all the parts you get are "used".  Do the major manufacturers like IGT not sell parts to individuals, only casinos???

Well, welcome to NLG. I see you've hit the ground running. Have you checked with the vendors on the home page for strips? I don't know about the rarity of that particular theme but someone on here will. Yes you can buy kits for the machine to change games. IGT only sells to casinos, they won't even talk to us about anything. There are lots of parts available. Check out the vendors and enjoy your new addiction. One will become more quickly.

Triple Double Stars is a pretty common theme as are most of the IGT S2000 themes. They were the #1 supplier of slot machines to the casinos for a long time so there is a lot of stuff around as far as kits and parts for theme. As mentioned above, go to the retail site of any vendor on the homepage or contact them directly and you should be able to find a nice set of replacement strips for your game. Or a different theme kit or whatever you want.

Here are a few example places to try for the reel strips, they are trusted & reliable, along with several other sources listed on NLG:

This place has a lot of IGT reel strips, they don't always have all their inventory on their website, you can contact them to see if they have the ones you need:
http://www.centralvalleyslots.com/reel-strips.html

and Jim at MidWest Slots may have the ones you want:

(you can contact Jim by calling or sending a message thru NLG)

This place sells game/theme kits (glass, strips, software) so they probably have the strips for sale separately:

The premium themes are usually associated with a 3rd party licensed games like The Munster, I Dream of Jeannie, The Mummy, Wild Thing, Phantom of the Opera, etc.  These themes usually have custom sounds to reflect the theme and are fun to play.  You can view several of these themes in action in Youtube to get an idea.

IGT original themes, the "Stars" "sizzling 7's" "Diamonds" "Red White and Blue", etc are common.  Basically if you saw a lot of them on the Casino floors, you will find them easily as all these S2000's have mostly been removed from the casinos now that the S3000 platform is out and is more competitive with the more moderen reel platforms like Bally alpha 2 pro, and WMS Blade steppers, not to mention those SUPER BRIGHT Azure steppers.

Thanks for all the replies.

We did find a set of strips by contacting one of the vendors found on here.  They were also just as helpful as everyone else on here.

Hopefully changing out the strips is just as easy!

That sounds good, changing the strips is not very hard. Just remove the reel assembly from the machine and set it on a table. Rotate the wheel until you find where the old strip has an overlap where both ends meet. Carefully pry up the end of the strip and remove it from the reel by working your way around the reel. Many times there will be some gummy stick'em adhesive or double-sided tape that holds the strips end to each other. As you do this notice which way the strip is wrapped around the reel so you can install the new one the same way. Be careful to put the correct strip on each reel, they are not the same. There is a part number at one end of the strip, you can compare that number on your new strip. Generally, the strip part numbers increase as you go from reel #1 (first reel of the left, when facing the machine) to reel #2 then #3.
