Williams TSE board
« on: September 21, 2016, 09:22:41 PM »
Ok. STILL trying to get everything together for this BB1 to BB2 conversation. Now I am looking for a TSE board to run my top monitor. Anybody out there have one? Thanks.

You don't need a TSE board to run a top monitor conversion.  It's needed to fool the machine so it can play certain games that require a special top box.
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....

Correct. That's my ultimate goal so that I can play those particular games. It will mean a change out of CPUs when I want to play some of those games, but that's fine. Its my understanding that some BB1 games that require a top box are not available in a BB2 format, thus the need for the TSE? Thanks.

Other than Dual screen BB1 games I am not aware of any single screen BB1 games that require it.  Also, the TSE can be left hooked up all the time too so no need to install and remove it.  It's basically invisible unless the game will require it.

Right. I will be keeping the TSE board, if I find one, connected all the time. It is the dual screen BB1 games that I'm wanting to play on this conversion, changing out the BB2 CPU with the BB1 CPU to play those particular games. Now if there are BB1 dual screen games that are available in a BB2 format, that would solve the problem, but I understand that most the BB1 DS games are NOT on available for a BB2, Top Gun, Hitchcock, Goldfish, etc. Thanks for the input, appreciate it as this Williams stuff is all new to me.

Topgun is NOT dual screen and it is a bb2 game that requires the tsetse as a fooler.  The other titles you mention are bb1 dual screen.  It is important to note, that when you play bb2 dual screen games, the top monitor is connected to the bb2 mpu box.  When playing bb1 dual screen games, the top monitor is connected to the tsetse board.  So you have to allow for that.  Some of our members mount the tsetse board in the lower cabinet for easier access so they can switch the vga cable from the bb2 mpu to the tsetse board when they convert to dual screen bb1 games.

Great info and thank you. Its starting to sink in as to what games I actually need the tsetse board for and those I don't. Am I safe to say, it couldn't hurt to have one connected? I'll have to look back on some forum threads and see if the list is still there that a member posted that basically broke down which games were which. Thanks guys for the information, I'm gonna get the hang of this stuff eventually, please be patient.

Can I leave the TSE board hooked up all the time on my BB2?
