Data Corruption
« on: October 08, 2023, 07:27:35 AM »
Any idea what could be causing this? I turned the attendant key the first time i got the error and it reset everything and let me play for a about an hour, when i was finished testing the machine i opened it up to take the money out and when i went to close the monitor the machine turned off and rebooted into this error again.

The message is stating that it's looking for a coin hopper? I'm not entirely sure of this.
If you're just using bills and TITO vouchers, you may need to disable the coin acceptor.
Use eKey000005 and touch Setup > Cash Handling >Devices to access the Coin Devices Setup page.
Disable any coin-related devices.

The cabling that flows from the monitor through to the back is at the mercy of the technicians that cared for the game through its life. ( Cable routing and strain relief is really, really important. )

1. Carefully inspect all those wires.

There is a touch screen USB line ( unless serial driven ) the optional BV bezel also carries some voltage. There is also monitor power.

2. Try to replicate the error. Get the game up again and try (Closing the door a few times)

The data corruption to the devices/hopper data branch might be caused by one of the power rails being upset by an intermittent short (while trying to write data) when you closed the door.

Data storage can be very picky.  When the computer specifies an address location to write to, a voltage glitch could cause a distorted address ( and possible data corruption to a non-enabled option like a hopper) Slot machines have to be constantly checking the data integrity to watch for tampering. The telltale, for example, watches that the doors remain closed while the game is powered off (or is unplugged from the wall)

The door also pushes on the button panel and there are some wires down there ( less likely )

Also check your batteries. The PCI card in the CPU is ultimately responsible for the CABINET MEMORY and SAFE STORAGE. (There are two batteries on this card)

Ekey and Diagnostic Keys are required for clearing those.
