Hello all,
I am new to this industry and have been sort of thrown into it to be honest. I have made a few friends already here on newlifegames.com who have shared tons of knowledge with me already which I am very grateful. Thank you all!

Down to business...
I am in the process of liquidating both Trump Taj Mahal and Trump Plaza Casino's in Atlantic City NJ. I have so many different items from light bulbs to Bar memorabilia. I am here to start the process of liquidating the slot machine equipment from both casinos.

Up for sale is 100 random eproms. Most seem to be IGT but there are some Bally's and Aristocrat ones as well. I am assuming that all are original OEM since casinos are regulated and lots have stamps on them like the tax has been paid on them. For someone who knows nothing about these to research each individual one and list it would take months. With that being said I am making random grab bags of these and just letting them go at $1 each + shipping. 100 per order.

Please do not ask me to find certain eproms or any other certain slot equipment as I have months if not years worth of work ahead of me as it is. I will be processing everything that I get from these casinos through NewLifeGames or through eBay on my business account there (g2g_liquidators)

Photo attachments have to be under 1MB in size. If you can resize your pictures to less than that then you should be able to post it.

It's a common problem nowadays, camera phones usually store the photo as a huge file, not something that is normally needed for posting on websites like this. If your camera has a setting to reduce the filesize select the smallest one. If you have trouble I can help, just email the photos to me and I'll reduce them and get them posted. My contact info is to the left side of this message.

It might save you time & trouble if you can put the eproms together in a large group, with labels all facing the viewer. You can put several in each row and take one photo of them. Then do the same for the next group of eproms. The trick is to get as many eproms as you can in one photo, but still be able to see them and read the labels.

Glad you were able to get some pictures posted.

Most of what I can see are original IGT ROMs chips, they are not erasable or re-programmable (EPROMS) and not of much use unless you have a complete set to make a working game set out of them. For example the the numbers I can read on the one photo are C0000770 1 of 4. You need the others (2,3,4) plus the proper GME and base chip to make an operational game set. I think you will be hard pressed to get $1 a chip for random tubes of non-reprogrammable chips but I guess the market will have the call on that. They would be worth more if you can match them up to make complete game sets, but that takes time and research to do. I wish you luck and look forward to the other offerings you may have from the casinos in the future.

yeah some say stepper, base and all types of stuff. Just don't have the time to go through all of it to do that. I'm looking at a tractor trailer truck of 50+ pallets of stuff lol to go through and that is just the slot stuff. Just started the eBay account for this business 3 months ago and trying to move all types of random stuff. You can see I have been moving quite a bit there. Just goign through everything as it comes through. Trying not to cherry pick because everything has to be processed so trying to be very methodical about the items as they come in. Tomorrow will be remote control day.

I have over 400+ remotes for who knows what to process.

I like to learn so this is a fun gig for me

an idea that might work-

If you are going to be listing the stuff on ebay anyway you might be able to save yourself some time & work by posting a message here with a link to the items in your ebay store that you think NLG folks might be interested in. We have an area for letting people know about stuff that is listed on ebay (and craigslist and other online places). That could save you the time of posting the items here too.

Also, school is out for the summer, a lot of youngsters might like a part time job sorting thru some of the items, cataloging them for you, taking photos, doing low-level stuff for not a lot of pay. They could help you to process the easier items that you have tons of and you could concentrate on the more difficult and higher-cost items. Your time is worth something, so if a few helpers save you several hours of work each week and you get the items listed and sold faster that's good for you.

Interested in seeing what else you will have for sale. Like Tilt said, the EPROMs donâ€™t have much value unless you have the complete set.

Here is are some sample pictures at random. I think some are blanks too. There has to be a value to these for someone who has the time to make up sets and knows way more about these then me I would think. Just tell me if it's best to just add these all to my scrap pile and move on. Like I said I got a lot of work ahead of me so can't spend too much time in in.

Eproms that have a small glass window on top are erasable, they can be reused again & again with different software. So chips like this have value even if the software in them has little or no value to someone.

OTP eproms do not have a glass erasure window, they can't be erased and reused. So once they are programmed with software that's it, the chip can't be reused. These OTP eproms only have value to someone that wants the chip because of the software that's in them. And since game software is often done in several chips you'd need to get all of the chips for that set and sell them as a set. People don't normally want a partial set of game chips, they need the entire set together. Depending on the slot machine this may only be 2 or 3 chips, on others it may be 6 or 8 chips.

If the OTP eprom has never been programmed then it can still be programmed, one time. So it has value as a "blank" chip. But that value will be less than an erasable eprom that can be reused over & over.

The labels on the eproms cover the window if it is there, so you'd need to remove a label to see if it is the erasable type of eprom, or the OTP type. Sometimes if you run your finger across the label you can feel the depression where the glass window is and you can tell it is an erasable eprom.

Erasable eproms come in different storage capacity sizes, and in different physical sizes. Common sizes are 256kb, 512kb, 1mb, 2mb, 4mb, 8mb etc, but really it can be a wide range over the past 20 years. The larger capacity ones sell for more than the smaller capacity ones. The part number of the chip is marked on top, that tells you what capacity it is. In general, I see erasable eproms selling for 50 cents to $4 from eprom resellers, depending on their capacity. So as a liquidation you could see if they'd sell for half that normal price, or whatever you think is best.

Depending on how you want to do it you could sort the eproms according to their capacity size/part number. Or you could sell them as a mixed lot. But people buying them to reprogram will want to know what they are getting, so you'll need to list the part numbers in your ad, or take a photo that clearly shows the part number stamped on the top of the eprom. Others here may have a better idea.

On your chips that are not erasable and have already been programmed and have labels you'll have to decide if having someone match them up so you can offer a complete set is worthwhile. Like I said earlier this could be a job for someone you give the task to since it will be time-consuming. Hopefully the way you received the chips boxed up from the casino means that the chips related to one another are in the same crate.

The smaller eproms that are squarish are called "PLCC" style. They come in various storage capacity just like the normal "DIP" style eproms that you mostly have. DIP means the chip has 2 rows of legs, one row on each side of the chip. DIP = "Dual Inline Package". All of the PLCC eproms you have might be the same size if they were only being used to update software in the MEI bill validators.

Someone might buy those labeled EPROMs if the price was right, but they would have to buy a large amount to try to build sets. Not sure what scrap price is, but I think you would have to price these just over that.

yes, I agree, if the chips with labels are not erasable style eproms then I think they need to be matched in groups to form software sets like Tilt mentioned. Since they have labels someone could do that, but with 3,500 eproms that would be a job. Hopefully the chips in the same tube are related to one another, so it could be a matter of sorting thru the tubes and not every individual chip.

But I wouldn't assume all of the chips with labels are non-erasable, especially the ones that are not IGT. A lot of companies used the erasable style eproms at different times thru the years. You could remove the label on a few to see and go from there. If they are erasable they are potentially worth more than what they are worth from a programmed software standpoint.

From the photos it looks like there are a lot less of the blank chips (no labels) so those could be put into bulk lots and offered for sale more easily than the labeled ones.

With this many labeled eproms coming from the casino slot shop do you think they were doing this much game conversions over the years? Or maybe when the machines were sold or disposed of they had to remove the chips per a requirement? But it seems like the machine would sell for less if the game software was removed. I can't tell if they are mostly S2000 or for other machines.
